Do you know what “quishing” is? In the ever-evolving world of cyber threats, there’s a new term you should be aware of: quishing. Much like phishing, quishing is another way that attackers try to trick you, but this time, they use QR codes as their weapon. How it works: Attackers embed malicious URLs within QR codes. When scanned, these codes can expose users to phishing sites or prompt them to download malware. This method takes advantage of the growing reliance on mobile devices and the ease of scanning QR codes, making it a subtle yet effective tool for cybercriminals. Why is this a concern? QR codes are now everywhere—from menus to advertisements—and we’ve become conditioned to scan them without thinking twice. However, these codes don't display the URL you're about to visit, making it hard to know if you're being directed to a legitimate or dangerous site. As cyber threats continue to evolve, so must our awareness and vigilance. Just as we are cautious about clicking links in unsolicited emails, we should be equally careful about scanning random QR codes. Protect yourself by following these simple steps: -Verify the source of the QR code. -Use a QR scanner that previews the URL before visiting it. -Keep your mobile device security software up to date. Stay vigilant! Cybercriminals are constantly adapting, and we must, too. Learn more about how quishing and other threats could impact you, and take steps to protect yourself today with mobile threat protection. Contact TANDMM; we can help fortify the walls.

The final rule for Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) 2.0 has been released, and the program will take effect very quickly after publication in the Federal Register. This marks a critical shift in how cybersecurity compliance will be handled. If your organization contracts with or provides services to the DoD either as a prime contractor or subcontractor, you must start preparing now. The CMMC framework requires that all contractors demonstrate varying levels of cybersecurity maturity based on the sensitivity of the data they handle. Compliance will soon be a non-negotiable part of doing business with the federal government. 👉 Key Points: -Compliance with CMMC will be mandatory for DoD contractors and their entire supply chains. -Early planning and action will prevent costly disruptions. -Organizations must ensure they meet the CMMC level that is appropriate for the data they handle. TANDMM specializes in helping businesses navigate cybersecurity compliance, including CMMC, FedRAMP, StateRAMP, TX-RAMP, and CJIS. Our experts will guide you through every certification step, ensuring you meet these essential requirements while maintaining operational efficiency. Let us help you stay ahead and maintain your eligibility for DoD contracts. 📞 Contact us today: (505) 226-9632 CustomerSuccess@tandmm.ai www.tandmm.ai #CMMC #DoDCompliance #Cybersecurity #Defense #TANDMM #PublicSectorTech

In light of recent reports about Kaspersky’s surprise forced update to new antivirus software, users should exercise caution. Such unplanned updates can be more than inconvenient—they may expose potential security risks. Forced changes could disrupt existing security settings, compromise data, or leave systems temporarily vulnerable to cyberattacks. It’s crucial to ensure your antivirus software is fully compatible with your current setup and that no unexpected security configurations are being altered without your knowledge. Always verify and control updates to maintain system integrity. #highrisk #cyber #TANDMM

The recent revelation of a significant data breach within the Richland County Wisconsin government has raised critical questions: Why, how did the breach occur, and when will the county ensure this never happens again? The breach exposed sensitive resident information, prompting widespread concern about the county's cybersecurity preparedness. With the rise of cyber threats targeting public institutions, especially in smaller and rural communities, the need for robust, proactive defenses has never been more evident. Why did this breach happen? Many public institutions, like those in Richland County, often operate with outdated technology or insufficient cybersecurity infrastructure. These vulnerabilities make them prime targets for cyberattacks, where personal data can be compromised. How did it occur? While specific details of the breach are still being investigated, data breaches often happen due to weak access controls, lack of timely patching, or human error, such as phishing attacks. Inadequate system activity monitoring and poor incident response protocols may have compounded the issue. When will this be addressed? Residents are now demanding transparency and swift action from the county government. Public institutions must prioritize cybersecurity measures, ensure regular updates to their security protocols, and invest in staff training to recognize and respond to potential threats. How can future cybersecurity failures be prevented? To prevent future incidents, local governments must adopt a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy. This includes implementing: *NextGen Detection & Response (XDR): A proactive defense system that detects and responds to threats in real-time. *Holistic Threat Management: Integrating data from existing technology suites to provide end-to-end situational awareness. *Mobile Endpoint Protection: Protecting against vulnerabilities in mobile access and applications. *AI and Automation: Tools that empower teams to respond swiftly and contain threats at machine speed. TANDMM offers these solutions specifically for small and rural communities like Richland County. By leveraging cutting-edge cybersecurity measures, local governments can protect residents' data, maintain service continuity, and build lasting trust with constituents. https://lnkd.in/gyk5KtnU #cybersecurity #databreach #government #TANDMM
