What history did you learn in school? I recall learning about the Romans over and over again - you know: "Veni, Vidi, Vici" -- I came, I saw, I conquered. In England, through high school, I never touched American History. Perhaps that was because we lost that war (of independence). Now I am trying to catch up on American history and read a daily reflection from Professor Heather Cox Richardson for which I am most grateful. Here is a link to read it for free: https://lnkd.in/e88kPV6u You can also subscribe to it, which my wife and I just did. Try it! Like me, you might find you missed some important history in school.

On the heels of my recent article on the power of storytelling to influence and inspire, I'm thrilled to announce an upcoming milestone in my journey of sharing insights and experiences. I've been honored with the opportunity to be one of eight speakers at this year's TEDxVillanovaU event. This platform will allow me to delve into a subject close to my heart, one that intertwines the physical and psychological realms, marathon running. In my TEDx Talk, titled "Endurance Beyond Limits: Unlocking Mental Strength in Life’s Marathon" I will explore the intricate dance between the mind and body, spotlighting the monumental role mental toughness plays in marathon running, especially when confronted with second-stage muscle failure. This phenomenon, where physical endurance seems to falter, serves as a profound metaphor for the obstacles we encounter in various facets of life. I aim to unravel my belief based on experience that while physical preparation is undeniably crucial, it is the resilience of the spirit and the strength of the mind that truly empowers us to transcend our perceived limitations on and off the course. Stay tuned for more details on my talk, where I hope to inspire not just runners, but anyone looking to harness their mental strength to achieve their personal best. It's about more than just running; it's about running the marathon of life with resilience, determination, and an unyielding belief in oneself.
