Tena | Community Health Nonprofit reposted this
Thank you so much to Bold Journey for featuring me and sharing my story! Check out the link to read about how I discovered my passion and what I’m doing with it! I’m so grateful for every single experience, decision, door opened & door closed, lesson, achievement, failure, so on and so forth that brought me to this exact place I am in today. Since the beginning of this year especially - between being awarded a life changing grant for Tena | Community Health Nonprofit to getting into medical school, and of course marrying the best person I know - I have truly felt a sense of “this is what I’m meant to be doing”. It seems like just yesterday I used to daydream about the life I’m currently living. I’m forever grateful for deciding to transfer & complete my undergrad at CDU, it was truly the catalyst for everything. Now, getting to train to become a physician here means the world to me. To my Tena Fam, actual fam, mentors, friends, colleagues, community partners - thank you for helping me discover my passion, and support me in continuing to cultivate it! 💙

Hello Tena Family! 💙 We are so excited to share that we will be back in the community beginning September! First and foremost, we express our deepest gratitude for all the outpouring of love and support we were given when we announced our hiatus earlier this year. The advice and words of encouragement helped us get through that period. Now, we are thrilled to be entering into a new era of service! Check out some of the changes below. Major Changes to Our Organization: Rebranding: “T’ena Health” has been renamed to “Tena”. We dropped the apostrophe in “T’ena” for easier pronunciation and dropped the word “Health” to avoid confusion about what services we provide to the community. Our mission statement has been updated! We have truly enjoyed seeing our past interns and volunteers thrive, and have embraced our partnerships that support prehealth student development. This has encouraged us to make sure we are doing our part to contribute towards the diversification of healthcare professionals. Our mission statement is now: To eradicate health disparities through empowering underrepresented individuals and sharing resources, knowledge, and compassion. Our vision is now: All people achieving their highest health and wellness. Our programming and initiatives have changed! Moving forward, we will only provide resource navigation and community health worker training. Tena is no longer hosting monthly health fairs or Homies Care. While we may not be hosting this events, we are excited to continue our partnerships by providing resource navigation at any community wellness event! Due to generous grant funding we were awarded, we currently have the following positions available: Assistant Manager Marketing Manager Job posting will be made available shortly. We deeply appreciate your unwavering support. Your encouragement and offers of support during our hiatus were invaluable. We have missed being out in the community and are excited to be back!

Hello everyone, Krysta Salas here to share a very important update regarding T’ena Health. T’ena Health is going on a hiatus. Recently, we have been facing financial hardship and unexpected challenges with obtaining funding. Despite our efforts these past few months, we are still in a difficult space and our current financial status is unsustainable. To avoid a permanent shutdown, we have determined that a hiatus is the best option. During this time, we will not be active in the community. All of our programming, initiatives, training, and volunteer opportunities will not be taking place. The purpose of this is so that we can dedicate all of our time and energy entirely to strategic planning. This will allow us to be very intentional and focused in our rebuilding period as we develop solutions and overcome our current circumstances. For now, I do not know how long this hiatus will last. I want to ensure that we are not rushing into resuming our operations and that we are being strategic and ethical about our work and decision-making. This was a very difficult decision to make, and navigating these financial challenges has been frustrating. As you know, T’ena Health was founded with a simple purpose: to help others. I share this message with a heavy heart but equal optimism about the future of T’ena Health knowing we have such a powerful support system. Thank you so much for standing by us during this difficult time. Your generosity truly makes a difference in the lives of so many. We look forward to updating you on our progress and returning to our mission of eradicating health disparities throughout the Los Angeles area and beyond!

T’ena Health’s work was highlighted to showcase the value of implementing social impact technology into community based organizations, as seen by our partnership with Pear Suite! This has streamlined our Unity Project work, in which we provide personalized, compassionate, and ongoing case management for resource navigation to underserved communities in Los Angeles. We love collaborations that build up the community!
We are proud to support Pear Suite, a powerful care navigation platform that aids community health workers, promotores, peer specialists, community health representatives, and navigators in crafting person-centered goals and action plans to tackle social determinants of health. This is not just about technology; it's about connecting people to better care outcomes. Pear Suite's skilled team offers culturally sensitive support, both in person and virtually through phone, video, and text, crucial for enhancing California's care navigator workforce. This aligns perfectly with Medi-Cal's priorities to provide accessible, integrated health services to diverse communities. Discover how Pear Suite is strengthening care navigation and why their work is pivotal for the future of Medi-Cal. #HealthCareInnovation #CommunityHealth #CHCFInvestment #PearSuite #CalAIM https://lnkd.in/gJ3sCv5n
