Statewide source of referral, support and advocacy for families and the systems that serve them.

About us

Tennessee Voices for Children provides leadership, advocacy, and hope to advance the emotional and behavioral well-being of children, young adults, and families. Tennessee Voices for Children, Inc. (TVC) was formally organized in 1990 by Tipper Gore as a statewide coalition of individuals, agencies and organizations working together as a Steering Council to promote children’s health and education services. TVC has progressed to become a statewide and national source of referral, support, and advocacy for families and the systems that serve them. Through the Statewide Family Network and its other ten main programs, our organization has informed, supported, and assisted parents and providers across the state. In the past fiscal year, TVC has reached more than 150,000 parents/caregivers, family members, and professionals (providers, educators, other advocates, etc.). We have taken the lead in promoting the use of a coordinated system of care in Tennessee that includes family support and community engagement as key components. TVC works collaboratively with parents, professionals, state and federal officials, policy makers and other key stakeholders to ensure that services provided to children and families in Tennessee are family driven, community based, and culturally and linguistically competent.

Community Engagement at TN Voices I Social Work Manager I Community Outreach Partner I Grant Writer I Recruiting I Program Management I Intern Programs

At the beginning of this month, I stepped into a new role as the President of the Murfreesboro Kiwanis Club. I’m honored to be leading and representing this 103 year-old civic club in Murfreesboro alongside a wonderful board. As a daughter of a Kiwanian, I’ve grown up with my family participating in my dad’s Kiwanis service projects and fundraisers. They were family activities and daddy-daughter lunch dates. As a high-schooler, I was blessed to have a Key Club sponsored by my dad’s club, which gave teens the ability to grow their leadership skills and serve the community amongst other kids and Kiwanians. I eventually became my club’s secretary and then president as well. When I moved to TN seven years ago, I knew I wanted to join Kiwanis but also knew I was in a transitional period of my life. I held off until I moved to Murfreesboro over two years ago, when I looked up the local club and joined. With the support and expertise from our great leadership team and board, I am honored for this opportunity to help steward this club into a greater year of serving the local community. “Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time.” -Kiwanis International If you’re interested in learning more, being my guest to a lunch meeting, or partnering, please reach out! And if you’re not local, I encourage you to look up your local Kiwanis Club and not only see how you can get involved, but also learn what they are doing for your community and why it matters. https://lnkd.in/eEGdGbDW

Brittany Goins, Outreach Specialist with the Statewide Family Support Program, and I were honored to participate in Lincoln Memorial University’s Fall Symposium on Special Education in Knoxville last Saturday. We provided a breakout session titled “Working with Advocates,” focusing on the processes of working with a peer support advocate and in navigating the educational child-serving system. Thank you to LMU’s students in the Carter Moyers School of Education who participated, and to the families and caregivers who shared their stories!

Last week, Rikki Harris represented our organization at the Elysian Magazine Leadership Conference. A huge thank you to Dr Christina Rahm, Clay Thomas, Root Brands, and Karen Floyd for bringing awareness to topics like mental health and highlighting leadership in this space. Elysian also hosted a beautiful gathering to honor the latest issues cover reveal. This community continues to raise up women in business and inspire so many!
