  • 🌟Today is Diwali, the festival of lights—a celebration of hope and new beginnings! This is what we want and hope for all the children who have to work in Madagascar’s mica mines. Unfortunately, it is estimated that some 10,000 children, some as young as four years old, are still working here in dangerous conditions. They face health risks, lack food, and miss out on the chance of going to school. Terre des Hommes Netherlands is making progress towards ending child labour in mica communities in Madagascar. Through the FAMAHA project, we have supported 1,200 children to enrol in school. Therefore, in our upcoming documentary, we will shed more light on the alarming child labour situation in the mica mines and its devastating impact, but also highlight the positive impact brought about by the FAMAHA project. ✨This Diwali, join us in spreading hope and light. ✨ Watch the teaser below, share it, and help us amplify our call to end child labour.  #EndChildLabour   #Diwali

  • 💡 Did you know? 💡 Approximately 10,000 Malagasy children, some as young as 4️, work alongside their families in mica mines in Madagascar just to survive.  These vulnerable children face severe health risks, including respiratory issues and back pain from carrying heavy loads. Many suffer from chronic food insecurity and lack access to basic services like water, education, and healthcare. To make matters worse, they are exposed to dangers such as sexual exploitation and early child marriage. At Terre des Hommes Netherlands, we are committed to stopping child labor in Madagascar’s mica mines. By enrolling children in school 📚, supporting families with Income Generating Activities (IGA) 💼, and raising awareness through community sensitisation, we aim to protect these children and put an end to child labor once and for all.
