Madeline Vega received her Masters of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UT Austin in May 2007. After a long technical career in the IBM Power Systems business unit in Austin, she joined NVIDIA in 2022, and is a Director of Engineering Product Management. Assistant professor Ruochen Lu has been selected to receive the 2024 IEEE Ultrasonics Early Career Investigator Award. The IEEE Ultrasonics Early Career Investigator Award recognizes the achievements of a young researcher in the area of ultrasonics and its applications. The award is specific to those researchers in the early stages of their career. The award was presented at the IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium in Taiwan.

We are excited to announce the awardees of the Creating Connections for National Security Research internal funding program to build partnerships between UT campus faculty and Applied Research Laboratories, The University of Texas at Austin researchers to develop critical technologies. In its third year, the program is focused on funding promising research of high relevance to national security while establishing strategic relationships between researchers on both campuses. Previous awardees went on to continue work with ARL:UT and propose additional related research to the U.S. Air Force, DARPA, MITRE, IARPA and Sandia National Laboratories. #defense #research #innovation
