Congratulations to AHG client Impulse! Their cooktop was named by TIME as one of the best inventions of 2024. They noted that the extra oomph from its battery gives the induction stove five times more performance than gas stoves. https://lnkd.in/gQ42QUCa #climatetech #electrifyeverything

Last week, two of our team members, Xander Mitchell and Elta Koliou went to DERVOS. A highlight of the event was to see AHG client Sam D'Amico and Impulse on center stage! DERVOS is known for being stacked with both great content and networking opportunities. It was great to catch up with AHG friends Andy Lubershane of Energy Impact Partners, Andy Frank of Sealed, Devin Hampton of UtilityAPI, Jake Varsano of Kraken, and Tim Hade of Virtual Power Plant. Thank you to Duncan S. Campbell, Colleen Metelitsa, Allison Bates Wannop, and James McGinniss for a jam-packed event. #DERVOS

Getting a #HeatPump shouldn't be hard. And yet, way too often, it is. This is EXACTLY why Josh Lake and I started Elephant Energy - there HAS to be a better way! We're super lucky to be able to work with wonderful customers like Elaine Reddy and partners like The Ad Hoc Group as we continue to build our market-leading electrification platform. Through our hundreds of installs, we've been able to refine and polish our work, leading to some pretty exciting (dare I believe, compounding) advantages: 1. Full Lifecycle Control: From sourcing to installation, we ensure top-notch quality and efficiency, offering an unbeatable customer experience. 2. Proprietary Tech and Data Flywheel: Our tooling generates "mass-customization" = electrification roadmaps, quotes, pricing, and installation performance. These insights are improving our service and deepening customer loyalty - daily. 3. Incentive Expertise: We've mastered rebate navigation, making projects affordable and positioning us as a trusted guide to homeowners. 4. Strong Partnerships: Some exciting collaborations with local agencies and utilities have expanded our reach, enabling us to access broader distribution. As an early mover, we're building trust, setting standards, and hopefully leading the way to better electrification outcomes. We're here to make electrification accessible, affordable, and impactful - and I have no doubt that our success is going to encourage many others - which is the ONLY way we achieve our climate goals! Onward! #JoinTheHerd #ElectrifyEverything
We’re now in heating season in much of the country, which is a good time to consider replacing that old gas or oil furnace. Enter heat pumps — the worst-named but most practical way to electrify your home heating system and get off of fossil heat. So we talked to three members of the Ad Hoc team — Jim Kapsis, Brian Kooiman, and James Schulte — who have gotten heat pumps installed in their homes in the last six months about what it was like. As you’ll see, the customer experience leaves a few things to be desired. PS - If you want to get The Gist sent to your inbox, you can sign up here. https://lnkd.in/g-yxdGWN

Tomorrow, AHG's Annie Gilleo will be speaking at the Wharton Energy and Climate Club's Conference on a panel alongside Lauren Salz of Sealed, Andrew Linowes, CEM, of JLL, and Rishika Ghosh of Philadelphia Green Capital Corp. If you're there, please keep an eye out for both Annie and Jyotika Chandhoke! https://lnkd.in/eMtcdXp7

Congratulations to AHG's Tess O’Donnell. Her Climate Corps peers named her as one of the best alumni mentors in 2024. We're proud to work with you, Tess!
We’re excited to share that Tess O’Donnell and Chris Lazinski are the best alumni mentors from the 2024 fellowship season! Fellows have the opportunity to nominate their summer alumni mentor as a “best mentor” to recognize their support over the fellowship (and sometimes beyond). Here are some of the comments shared from fellows about their mentorship experiences: 🔹 "Tess provided invaluable guidance as I navigated an unfamiliar space, consistently making herself available and sharing helpful resources. She is highly approachable, and I felt comfortable being honest with her, which allowed us to tackle challenges more effectively." 🔹 "Chris had a significant contribution in allowing me to complete my project and also identify possible career opportunities." 🔹 "Barbara S. dos Santos, PhD! During a challenging job search process she has been instrumental in helping me understand my own power and agency and has been supportive in helping me build out successful systems and processes!" 🔹 "Max Gade is a great human being and professional. He has a really strategic way of approaching problems, and his mindset and advice were crucial for my project's success." Thank you to all of our alumni summer mentors for your mentorship and dedication to the program!

The Ad Hoc team enjoyed our recent visit to the White House with officials from the Council for Environmental Quality (CEQ) and the Treasury Department for two really informative Q&A sessions. Great to learn more about their efforts to electrify the Federal fleet and buildings, the focus on climate adaptation at federal agencies, and progress to finalize IRA tax credit guidance. Thank you so much to Andrew Mayock, Madeline Reeves, Ethan Zindler, and Rachel McCleery for taking the time to meet with our team to discuss their important work and to build stronger bridges with the #climatetech startup community.

Our team recently held our semi-annual retreat in Washington, D.C. With hubs and employees nationwide, hanging out in person is a treat. We had some great conversations, participated in a DEI workshop, and had big and small outings. Jim Kapsis hosted dinner, and we played a cutthroat game of celebrity. You haven't lived until you have had to act out Sam Altman and Bill Gates. If you'd love to join our team, just a reminder that we're hiring for a Principal. https://lnkd.in/gg9DyhyF

What fun to see a recent addition to our team featured by The Wharton School for her unique career path. One month in and Jyotika Chandhoke is making a big difference.
Although 71 percent of our planet is made of it, water isn’t the most obvious career path for business school graduates. But alumni like Jyotika Chandhoke (G'24 WG'24), who wasn't even familiar with the sector before starting at Wharton, are now making a major difference in the water industry. She says her Indian roots influenced her climate career choice. So did the Wharton Energy & Climate club, which helped her form the friendships and network she needed to dive deeper into her newfound interest, and the recommendation of a classmate in professor Arthur van Benthem’s class, which led her to her current role at the climate-change advisory firm The Ad Hoc Group. During Climate Week at Penn, Wharton Magazine shares her and other #WhartonGrad stories: https://whr.tn/3YpsqrG

Our partner Julia Hamm reflects on two recent panels about innovation she helped facilitate at the Public Utilities Fortnightly's Utility Innovators conference and National Grid Partners' #ngasummit. #utilities #innovation #energytransition
Over the past week I've had the pleasure of leading discussions on the topic of how to accelerate the pace of innovation with #utilities during sessions at both Public Utilities Fortnightly's Utility Innovators conference and National Grid Partners' #ngasummit. For companies that are 100+ years old and risk averse, creating a culture where innovation is not only accepted but expected is hard. But the leaders in our industry are making progress, and they shared many tips that others should consider. Like adding an "innovation moment" to the tradition of having a "safety moment" at the start of all meetings. And building into annual metrics a goal of moving successful new projects/programs from pilot to scale, and financially incentivizing employees to do so. Are we where we need to be with the massive cultural shift required to meet the demands on our industry between now and 2050? No. But as I reflect on these conversations, I'm left with a sense of hope.
