Architects & Engineer's Professional Insurance coverage is challenging and those who rely on transferring risk to A&Es need to be mindful of the pressures in the marketplace. Professional insurance coverage for architects and engineers can be challenging. Those who rely on transferring risk to A&Es should be mindful of marketplace pressures.
The complex challenges faced by professional liability insurers in handling A&E risks are discussed in a recent article in Risk & Insurance magazine. The reality of design risks for project owners underscores the importance of having robust contracts that provide indemnity and insurance protection for the owner. Ensuring the right contractual safeguards are in place is crucial for safeguarding the interests of project owners. #thealsgroup #riskmanagement #riskmanagementconsulting

Think collecting Certificates of Insurance from your vendors means you're covered? Think again. Have you actually read the wording in the COI's header? COIs don’t provide all the policy details needed to verify adequate coverage. When managing a COI compliance process, reviewing insurance policy endorsements is just as important as collecting COIs. Here’s why: 1. Endorsements reflect key coverage changes: They can modify provisions or add new insured parties that a COI won’t show. 2. Avoid gaps in coverage: Endorsements highlight exclusions or special conditions missing from the COI, protecting you from misunderstandings. 3. Ensure contractual compliance: Many contracts require specific endorsements (e.g., additional insured status, waiver of subrogation) that a COI doesn’t capture. 4. Clarify third-party relationships: Endorsements provide critical details on how policy changes, like cancellations, affect your business—details often omitted in COIs. Bottom line: Reviewing endorsements gives you a full picture of your coverage, reducing risks and ensuring compliance. #Insurance #COITracking #VendorCompliance #COICompliance #RiskManagement
