Today, Representatives Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Mikie Sherrill reintroduced the Recycling Infrastructure and Accessibility Act! ♻️ This critical legislation will advance our nation’s recycling capabilities, protect domestic metal supply and bolster critical mineral production. Increasing and improving recycling of all materials in the United States is good for the economy, national security and supply chain resilience. We appreciate Reps. Miller-Meeks' and Sherrill's leadership on this legislation and look forward to helping get it across the finish line. https://lnkd.in/g_fXTTKG

FACT: We throw away $1.2 billion worth of aluminum beverage cans each year 💸 OPPORTUNITY: Recover and reuse more aluminum cans, which move from recycling bin to newly formed can in less than 60 days 🥫 “The industry needs this vital material back to meet growing demand and historic U.S. aluminum investment.” - Charles Johnson #circularity #GlobalRecyclingDay #ChooseAluminum Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eizTQq9J

A robust aluminum industry is critical to our economic and national security. The domestic industry has invested more than $10 billion since 2016 mostly in mid-and-downstream production and recycling. At the same time, we want and need to open new smelting capacity in the United States—though, it would take nearly a decade before we could smelt all of the metal our economy and our military depend on today. Our President & CEO Charles Johnson recently explained how we could get there and how to continue the industry's momentum in the meantime: https://lnkd.in/eSgMjtdq
It's safe to say aluminum has been in the news quite a bit lately, so I was glad to sit down with CNBC to walk through some important details on America's aluminum industry. We're excited about the primary aluminum discussion happening in the United States right now, and it was great to talk about some of the opportunities and challenges ahead. I highlighted how, in the meantime, our trading relationship with Canada is key to the U.S. industry's growth and competitiveness. I hope you'll take a few minutes to watch: https://lnkd.in/edYspKRD
