About us
The Arc New York is a family-led organization that advocates and provides support and services to people with intellectual, developmental, and other disabilities, emphasizing choice and community engagement. The Arc New York, formerly known as NYSARC, was founded in 1949 to serve a critical mission – to improve the quality of life for people with developmental and other disabilities. What started as a support group and day nursery for families coping with these disabilities has grown to become the largest nonprofit in New York State serving those with developmental and other disabilities.

🌟Happy National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)! 🌟 Every October, we take the time to honor and celebrate the incredible contributions of people with disabilities to our workplaces and economy. NDEAM reminds us of our commitment to people with disabilities and that they have the skills to succeed in community employment and access to quality jobs—not just in October, but all year long. This year, the U.S. Department of Labor's theme for NDEAM is “Access to Good Jobs for All.” Good jobs can transform lives, and everyone—especially those with disabilities —deserves the chance to prepare for, secure, and thrive in them. Let’s work together to create an inclusive workforce where everyone can succeed! 💼✨ Learn more about NDEAM here: https://lnkd.in/dHYeK3KH #NationalDisabilityEmploymentAwarenessMonth #NDEAM2024 #DisabilityInclusion #GoodJobsForAll #StrongerTogether #WeMatter

🎉 Last Friday, The Arc New York’s CEO, Erik Geizer, and CFO, Cyndi Borozny, attended a special retirement event honoring The Arc Ontario's Executive Director, Ann Scheetz. 🌟 Erik shared heartfelt words about Ann’s incredible impact over the past 40 years and the dedicated journey that led her to this moment. Ann began her career as a case manager with The Arc Ontario in 1984 and ascended to the role of Executive Director in 2012. Under her leadership, she transformed the Chapter with significant increases in assets and revenue, expanded the Chapter’s Foundation resources, and secured vital grants to support operations. Her tenure saw the creation of numerous innovative programs, including integrated businesses, college and employment opportunities, and the recent opening of the new Employment and Training Center. Ann also made significant contributions at the statewide level with The Arc New York, serving on various committees, including the Joint Committee on Quality and Compliance and the CEO Search Committee. And she was instrumental in developing the "Guide to Excellence," our Board member training resource manual. Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement, Ann! 🎊 Your legacy of leadership and vision will continue to inspire us all. 🌟👏 #StrongerTogether #WeMatter #TheArcNewYork
