It’s been a nice learning experience to be with these colleagues for the past several months! I was asked to be the Chair of the Clinical Practicum Committee for our state SLP association, WSLHA. Have I don’t something like this before? Nope! Was I up for learning something new? Sure! We meet each month and discuss the biggest issues SLPs in our state are facing. •We’ve sent out surveys to SLPs to learn more about what’s needed/wanted •Worked with our lobbyist on house bill efforts this legislative session •Putting out continuing education to our members • Collorate on ideas to improve practices I’m truly impressed with the members here! They are teaching me so much. We met again this week and again had some great updates and progress to share. Specifically, with a house bill we’d been trying to get through this session. Did it pass? No. Have we made gains anyway? Yes (and more than I expected)! If you’re not sure about how you can make a difference, try new things. Chances are you’ll learn something 🙌🏻 PS if you’re a WA state SLP and want to join our committee, please let me know!!
