The Berkeley Beacon is the editorially independent student newspaper at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. The Beacon is updated daily online and released in print every Thursday during the school year, with a print circulation of 800 at Emerson's campuses in Boston and Los Angeles. Founded in 1947, the paper is a chronicle of life at Emerson, reporting on institutional projects, profiling notable campus figures, and covering schoolwide trends. In recent years, the Beacon has revealed racial biases in the college’s tenure practices, examined allegations that administrators broke a federal gender equity law, and uncovered food code violations in the campus dining facilities.
