Providing behavioral health, education, and child welfare services to children, youth, and families in Ohio.

About us

The Buckeye Ranch is a private, nonprofit organization with a comprehensive array of mental health treatment options for children, young adults, and families. The Buckeye Ranch is committed to providing high-quality care utilizing the most up-to-date, scientific knowledge to address the challenges faced by the children, young adults, and families we serve. We actively seek the most current research-based treatment approaches in our relentless commitment to providing the best possible care to children, young adults, and families. The Buckeye Ranch also takes a strengths-based approach with every child, young adult, and family. We believe that these strengths can be accessed to help families reach their full potential because families are fundamental in the lives of children and, therefore, central to the treatment we provide. Our families are struggling to overcome serious issues including abuse, neglect, mental illness, suicidal tendencies, addictions, and other life debilitating concerns. Because of this, The Buckeye Ranch is much more than a place. It’s a comprehensive network of skilled professionals, working as a team to provide children and their families with the treatment, guidance and support they need to raise hope and move on to a better place. The Buckeye Ranch is currently serving more than 2,500 children and families from Franklin and other counties every day, at six (6) different locations throughout Ohio. -

We are excited to share that our VP of Community and Education-Based Services, Kamilah Twymon, LPCC-S, MBA, appeared on ABC 6 WSYX-TV and FOX28-WSJV news’ Good Day Extra in collaboration with Columbus City Schools - Ohio and Michael Sain to advocate for ADAMH Board of Franklin County funded, school-based, initiatives supporting new-American students! Kamilah highlighted The Buckeye Ranch’s Somali Outreach and Mental Health Program, which provides culturally specific support to Somali youth and families through intensive and non-intensive clinical and case management services. Using Somali-speaking case managers, we provide support for Somali youth and families struggling with symptoms related to loss, trauma, and resettlement, as well as issues common to the process of merging cultures. The outreach component of the program connects Somali families to community resources specific to their needs. “Our Somali Outreach and Mental Health Program is staffed with Somali providers who understand the community’s language, culture and subculture,” Kamilah shared, “They’re really engaged in providing a specific and specialized approach to help them navigate the school systems.” Thank you to ADAMH Board of Franklin County for your partnership in funding essential programs like the Somali Outreach and Mental Health Program! Together, we can ensure our students have access to the hope and healing they need to succeed. Watch the clip here: bit.ly/ADAMH-TBR-Fox28

📰✨ Exciting news! The Buckeye Ranch's new Early Childhood Mental Health program was recently featured in The Columbus Dispatch! 🧠💛 In partnership with South-Western City School District this initiative, seeks to help Black pre-K students and their families who are disproportionately affected by disciplinary motion and expulsions proactively address childhood trauma - giving them the tools they need to thrive in the kindergarten environment. 🌱🎒 As Dr. Andrea Weisberger, Director of Education and Early Childhood Mental Health at The Buckeye Ranch, says, "We need to not look at kids in a vacuum, (and) look at what everybody has going on. Oftentimes when our preschoolers are struggling, that's because our families are struggling." A substantial part of this program is working with parents or caregivers who may have trauma responses themselves in how they are raising their children. The program is currently being offered in two South-Western district schools – Finland and Siles elementary schools, but insufficient funding remains a major barrier for expanding programs that benefit young children before their trauma and mental health problems become extreme. The current funding for the program is provided in part by the Ohio Children's Alliance who make this vital work possible. We are so proud of this program’s positive impact on families in our community. 💜In honor of #NationalKinshipCareMonth, we are celebrating the power of community and trauma-informed care with Tracey’s kinship care journey. Tracey’s incredible story is a powerful testament to resilience, transformation, and breaking cycles of intergenerational trauma. After enduring a traumatic childhood marked by instability, misdiagnoses, and incarceration - Tracey transformed his life, becoming a medical executive, successful entrepreneur, and a dedicated kinship caregiver to three children. With the support of The Buckeye Ranch, he has created a loving, empowering home for the youth in his care – working to break the cycle of intergenerational trauma by sharing his own experiences and creating trust through open conversation to ensure a bright future for his niece and two nephews. We hope you will take a few minutes today to read about how kinship care can change a life here: https://lnkd.in/ec-Hiase #TheBuckeyeRanchDifference #KinshipCare #FosterCare #TraumaInformedCare #MentalHealth
