1,000 is not just a number. It represents the number of items that we gave out today during resource appointments ALONE. Actually, it was a little more than 1,000 and doesn’t include items that were sent to our school closets or home through social workers. What we do matters. What we do is working to get resources into the hands of kids who need them. What we need is you!

Do you remember your school book fair? The excitement that accompanied seeing the wall of Lamborghini and kitten posters? The sense of self you found in choosing a book, knowing that it was yours and wouldn’t have to be returned to the library? The feeling of community as your classmates shopped beside you, exchanging giggles over a funny cover or a silly title? Or maybe you were another type of kid, a child whose parents couldn’t send in money because they were struggling to put food on the table. Did you sit and watch your friends pick among the treasures and feel less than? Did you carry that feeling back to class—that sense of inequity that kept you from seeing your real worth? Every year as the book fairs arrive at our partner schools, kids from both groups file into their libraries to see rolling shelves stocked with the latest series. However, through our Book Fairy program, both sets of children are excited. This is because the Book Fairy has visited, and students who would not otherwise be able to shop are eager to cash in their gift certificates for their very own books. But the Book Fairy can't visit without you. Help to improve literacy among our children; help to create the magic of childhood; help because you were a kid once, too. https://lnkd.in/ev9qEvn3

We gave out 131 Halloween costumes to kids in need on Saturday! It was such a blessing to see the children light up as they found the costume they wanted as well as the relief among the parents for a burden lifted. https://lnkd.in/emAaK4BZ

Our friend Jai stopped by yesterday to inspect the bounty collected through his snack drive for our students. He was very pleased to see that there were plenty of goldfish for his friends to enjoy 😊 Thank you to everyone who donated, to Bank of Frankewing - Hazel Green for hosting, and to Jai for being an awesome community leader 💙

Thank you to this amazing small group from Leadership Greater Huntsville for their extensive help in setting up the Blossomwood Elementary School Care Closet and packing the classroom medical kits and snack bins for BES. This crew is definitely leading the way through community service and action 💙

Look at these numbers! Our closet distributions are higher than ever, which means two things: 1) Our mission is working - we are getting valuable resources to the kids who need them and 2) We need all the help we can get. If you feel led to help us as we move into the second 9 weeks of the school year, you can donate at https://lnkd.in/e3YvUsfq
