Congratulations to Laura on her retirement! Laura has been a receptionist at our facility for 35 years! We are so thankful for her service to our organization, and we wish her the best in her retirement.

We enjoyed being a part of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home's Professional Roundtable Meeting last week. Mary P., MEd, Community Liaison, and Lindsay M., LMSW, Director of Outpatient Programs, are pictured. Lindsay presented to the group on "Grief and Its Effects on Mental Health."

Last week, we conducted hospital-wide training on trauma-informed care. More than 280 employees attended over the two-days of sessions. Trauma Informed Care (TIC) is a framework for providing quality clinical care to survivors of various forms of trauma and is centered around the belief that healing happens through safe and collaborative relationships. Staff members received a t-shirt and signed a pledge to show that we are dedicated to making this a priority across our facility.

Staff were treated to a pop-up popcorn party this week as a thank-you for their teamwork last week during some unexpected computer downtime. Everyone did a great job coming together to make sure processes ran smoothly and patient care didn't skip a beat.

We are exhibiting this week at the Lowcountry Mental Health Conference in Charleston, SC. This highly-attended event brings together mental health professionals from across the region to share knowledge and grow their networks, and we are thrilled to be a part of it each year.

A big thanks to Paws2Care Therapy Dogs for the huge turnout last night! Every Tuesday evening, volunteers bring their therapy dogs to visit our staff and patients. Their sweet demeanors and unique personalities are a highlight of the week!
