Therapist Hannah Feehery reflects on Episode 4 of the "All There Is" podcast by Anderson Cooper: Molly Shannon's Unspeakable Loss. "All There Is" with Anderson Cooper is about the people we lose, the people left behind, and how we can live on – with loss and with love. It has profoundly impacted many of us at The Center, and as such we wanted to feature it on our social media. Each week, a staff member will share their reflections on an episode either in a video or written form. Last week at Nello's Corner, group members carved pumpkins that represented their grief and/or their person. (Thank you to volunteer Jake who prepped all of the pumpkins ahead of time!) We are so impressed with the unique ways that they expressed themselves through this activity! Nello's Corner is our family grief support group program offered at our Center in Skippack throughout the school year for children, teens, and their caregivers who have experienced the death of an immediate family member. Youth ages 4 to 19 meet twice a month to share activities, discussion, or simply be in the company of peers whose lives have also been impacted by a death. At the same time, parents and guardians are encouraged to meet with one another in a supportive group environment to gain insight on how to help their children cope with grief. All groups are facilitated by professional staff of the Center. Registration is ongoing. You can register by calling 610-222-4110 or by submitting a request for more information here: https://lnkd.in/eZeBFndG
Here we have moments captured during our first ever Grief Wellness at the Farm program at the Smith Farmstead. Unlike therapy or discussion-centered support groups, each week offered a different activity or modality aimed at awakening inward personal reflections and expressions of grief while also providing opportunities for connection to others. Activities included: a sensory exploration of the animals and the land, mindfulness exercises, and expressive art techniques. Participants reflected on the program with words such as "healing," "meditative," "quiet," and "gratitude." With this group, the Center expands its robust specialized adult support group program to include something a little different. If interest permits, we hope to bring this program back in the future... Stay tuned!

Today is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. It is a day when we hold in our hearts all of those who have suffered a miscarriage, an ectopic pregnancy, a still birth, or the loss of an infant. Thank you to those who joined us just last week for a Professional Roundtable Training to discuss Pregnancy and Infant Loss. We recognize the sensitive nature of this type of loss and appreciate the opportunity to educate and connect with those who support these grieving families in our local communities.
