🏠 The Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development is accepting applications for the Pennsylvania Mixed-Use Housing Development Pilot Program! The program will provide grant funding to eligible applicants for the development or conversion of buildings or land for mixed-use development, which include a portion of the development or conversion project devoted to a final residential use. Eligible Applicants: • Municipality • Economic Development Organization • Redevelopment Authority • Municipal Authority • Industrial Development Agency • For-Profit Organization Eligible Projects: • Mixed-Use Site Development – an eligible applicant prepares infrastructure-deficient land for future mixed-use development. • Conversion Projects – an eligible applicant repurposes an existing commercial or industrial structure for future mixed-use. • Rehabilitation Projects – an eligible applicant rehabilitates a vacant or underutilized structure for future mixed-use. • A combination of the three abovementioned types of projects. The PA Rural Population Revitalization and Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission (SPC) visited another area of the region, hosting a Listening & Learning Session at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in Butler County. The session was led by opening remarks from Commission Chairman Dr. Kyle Kopko and Commission appointee and President of Slippery Rock University Dr. Karen Riley. The following Commission appointees also joined: Jordan Grady, President of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce; Mark Critz, Western Regional Director of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and Executive Director of the PA Rural Development Council; and Venango County Commissioner Albert Abramovic. It was insightful hearing more thoughts and suggestions from community members while collaborating at an important rural anchor institution. Thank you to SPC, Slippery Rock, and all of the community members that joined us. We look forward to hearing from many more of you! #PARPRC

The PA Rural Population Revitalization Commission joined with the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission (SPC) to host a Listening & Learning Session at The Denny House in Waynesburg, Greene County. This session brought together community members to discuss pressing challenges in Southwestern Pennsylvania’s rural communities. Key topics included population decline, school district investments, agricultural development, and state incentives for economic growth, with participants brainstorming innovative recommendations to revitalize the region. Commission Chairman Dr. Kyle Kopko was joined by the following Commission appointees: Jordan Grady, President of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce; Mark Critz, Western Regional Director of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and Executive Director of the PA Rural Development Council; and Greene County Commissioner Betsy Rohanna McClure.
