  • Flashback Friday! At Parsons Community School in Flushing, Queens, we celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. and Black History Month with a talk from Jeff Dess, a Queens native, author, and co-founder of Trill or Not Trill. Our students delved into the history of Dr. King and the civil rights movement, enjoyed a spoken word performance, and took part in a guided meditation focused on affirmations of excellence. Special thanks to Target for sponsoring this event. Jeff Dessources Target

  • Students from Parsons Community School shared their creativity and compassion by making heartfelt Valentine’s Day cards for individuals at Queens Centers for Progress’ Community Connections Center! QCP, celebrating 75 years of service, provides vital support to children and adults with developmental disabilities, fostering independence and community involvement. We are so grateful to our amazing students for helping spread joy and connection through this thoughtful card exchange. A small act of kindness can make a big impact! Special thanks to Council Member Gennaro’s office for helping facilitate this beautiful initiative. Queens Centers for Progress

  • In the Rockaways, neighbors help neighbors—not just during the holidays, but every day. This spirit was on full display at the Second Annual Community Unity Cultural Celebration of Kwanzaa, where over 180 community members came together to honor the seven principles of Kwanzaa through music, dance, storytelling, and togetherness. For Cash+Community Works participants Vernell and Kimberly, this celebration was more than an event—it was a reflection of their daily commitment to uplifting their community. From launching grassroots initiatives to mentoring the next generation, they embody the values of unity, collective work, and self-determination. Kwanzaa is a reminder that hope, connection, and shared responsibility can transform lives. Let’s carry these principles forward all year long! Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/dBwZz5ck
