How can I strengthen unity within diverse groups at home, at work, and in the Church? “In the household of faith there are to be no strangers, no foreigners, no rich and poor, no outside ‘others’” (Elder Gerrit W. Gong, general conference, Oct. 2020). Below are a few essential things to remember about diversity, both at Church and in the workplace. Church employment is always looking for diverse talents and points of view. You can browse all of our paid job opportunities here: https://lnkd.in/eG9qyR8X #diversity #DiversityAtWork #kindness

About us
"This work is so liberating: to be employed in an organization wherein we have the ultimate freedom to use true principles of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ in our work each day. Having access to all truth and applying it in our daily performance is the most liberating thing I know. This truly is the work of the kingdom of God." —Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles Church employees find joy and satisfaction in using their unique talents and abilities to further the Lord’s work. From the IT professional who develops an app that sends the gospel message worldwide -- to the facilities manager who maintains our buildings, giving Church members places to worship, teach, learn, and receive sacred ordinances, our employees seek innovative ways to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the world. They are literally working in the Kingdom. Almost everyone will experience grief at some point in their lifetime, whether due to the death of a loved one or a big life change such as losing a job or a relationship. Everyone grieves differently and on a different timetable. Some may grieve quickly, and others may take a long time. Some may have trouble sleeping and eating. Some may want to be with people, while others may want to be alone. Some may feel intense emotions, and others may not. There is no correct way to grieve. President Russell M. Nelson taught: “Mourning is one of the deepest expressions of pure love. It is a natural response in complete accord with divine commandment: ‘Thou shalt live together in love, insomuch that thou shalt weep for the loss of them that die’ [Doctrine and Covenants 42:45]” (general conference, Apr. 1992). 🌱 The suggestions below may help you better understand and cope with grieving or allow you to help others who are grieving. Meet Noelle, an editor for the Friend magazine! ☀️ Noelle writes engaging stories, simplifies scripture, and creates simple crafts. She plays a crucial role in planning and creating social media content, including writing scripts, filming videos, and editing captions. Additionally, she interviews families globally to feature their stories in the magazine and on social media. 🌍 ✨ In her role, Noelle has had many opportunities to learn new skills. She has learned to use InDesign for designing posts and Adobe Premiere for video editing. Through her interviews, she’s gained insights into families from all over the world. Here are a few of her favorite experiences: “One of my favorite experiences was writing up some Christmas nativity crafts and activities and then seeing children around the world use the craft I helped write! 🎄 “Another one was interviewing a boy from Peru and hearing his testimony, then sharing that in the magazine. Seeing the process go from finding this boy to gathering his story and photos to seeing how our designers magically put it all together and made it beautiful is so fun. “Finally, one of my favorite experiences was interviewing two siblings I knew from when I served a mission in Australia. When I met them, they were only toddlers and babies, but now they are able to share their testimonies. “I loved interviewing them, writing up their stories for the print magazine, and having them share their stories and testimonies in videos for our social media pages.” —Noelle Barrus There are many paid jobs offered with Church employment. Like Noelle, you may find one perfect for you and your background. https://lnkd.in/gM2rP-A4 #OpenJobs #HiringNow #NowHiring

September is Suicide Prevention Month. “Like any part of the body, the brain is subject to illnesses, trauma, and chemical imbalances. When our minds are suffering, it is appropriate to seek help from God, from those around us, and from medical and mental health professionals. … “… It is normal to feel sad or worried once in a while. Sadness and anxiety are natural human emotions. However, if we are constantly sad and if our pain blocks our ability to feel the love of our Heavenly Father and His Son and the influence of the Holy Ghost, then we may be suffering from depression, anxiety, or another emotional condition” (Reyna I. Aburto, general conference, Oct. 2019). *If you or others have thoughts of death or suicide, reach out to family, a friend, a bishop or other Church leader, or a trusted professional. Call a helpline (988 in the US) for urgent assistance and support. If there is an immediate threat or danger, call for emergency assistance (911 in the US) or go directly to the nearest hospital emergency department. Suicidal thoughts should always be taken seriously. See https://lnkd.in/gPJGZn-A or https://lnkd.in/gwMNfcgC for additional helplines and resources. #NationalSuicidePreventionMonth #NationalSuicidePreventionWeek
