About us
The Community Preservation Corporation (CPC) was launched in 1974 through a joint agreement between the City of New York and its leading commercial banks to restore and rebuild New York’s aging neighborhoods. CPC itself was an innovation when it was founded, and we carry that founding spirit with us as we operate today. Join us all year long as we celebrate our 50th anniversary (#CPC50th) by highlighting how the CPC has evolved and expanded our reach to become a consistent source of capital to underserved housing markets throughout New York City and in communities across the state. Our deep, strategic relationships with government agencies, community groups, banks, and other investors has positioned CPC as a trusted partner who works hand-in-hand with housing providers to create customized financing solutions. CPC has financed more than 225,000 affordable housing units to date. With roughly $14.4 billion in public and private investments, our work has helped revitalize countless neighborhoods and provided quality housing for low-income families, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities.

Today, CPC submitted testimony to the New York City Council ahead of the Committee on Housing and Buildings' FY 2026 Preliminary Budget Hearing. We are thrilled to see that the Mayor’s Preliminary Budget sets a new all-time high for New York City’s investment in housing capital. These funds will generate affordable housing units via preservation, new construction, senior and supportive housing, in addition to supporting the conversion of NYCHA developments through the PACT Program. We also applaud the joint City and State funding commitment of $5B, made in support of the passage of #CityofYes and in alignment with #CityforAll, to support the housing capital and infrastructure needs that will come with these new zoning text amendments. It is important to note that given the drastic and fast-moving actions taking place at the federal level, local action on housing preservation and production are more important than ever. Potential reductions in federal funding could elevate the demand for programs like CityFHEPS and underscore the need for local development incentives. We encourage the Council to pass the Mayor’s Preliminary Budget for housing, and urge the Council and the Mayoral administration to maintain a sharp focus on the evolving federal landscape and coordinate with the New York City Congressional Delegation to mobilize additional support should the need arise. We’re grateful to CPC President Sadie McKeown, who recently met with mentees in our mentorship program to share her wisdom! These mentoring sessions provide an opportunity for emerging professionals at CPC to learn from experienced leaders. Sadie offered valuable advice, such as that confidence isn't about knowing everything, but rather about embracing every aspect of the learning process—making mistakes, observing mentors, and knowing when to seek guidance. She also spoke on the importance of empathy, particularly during challenging conversations, and encouraged our mentees to address difficult topics head-on. As she noted, if you can't acknowledge the elephant in the room and communicate effectively, progress becomes impossible. Among her other advice: don't hesitate to reach out, never shy away from asking "why,” and be intentional about establishing your personal brand. Thank you again to Sadie for sharing her time and insights with our mentees! #MentorshipMatters #ProfessionalDevelopment #CareerGrowth #AffordableHousingJobs

Last night, CPC partnered with Women in Housing and Finance NYC to host a trivia happy hour in honor of #WomensHistoryMonth! We had some good laughs, drinks, and conversations while testing our knowledge of women’s achievements throughout history. It was great seeing everyone come together—the strong connections made are why we continue this tradition. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined and helped organize. We're already looking forward to next year! #WHM2025
