We’re back with another BHC Team Spotlight, introducing you to the exceptional individuals behind our hotels, restaurants, venues and home office. This month’s spotlight is on Ellie Locke, Sales Experience Manager for The Cooper Hotel (opening in 2025).
Q: Where are you from?
A: I was born in Chicago but grew up in Columbia, South Carolina.
Q: How long have you been with BHC?
A: I have been with BHC since December 2022. I started at The Charleston Place and now helping to open its sister hotel, The Cooper Hotel!
Q: What is your favorite trip you’ve ever taken?
A: A month in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa led by my university. Our class studied Nelson Mandela and his global impact on the education system. I enjoyed mentoring students who ultimately taught me important lessons about humanity that I incorporate every day, especially in hospitality.
Q: If you could spend a day with any living person, who would you pick and why?
A: Tree Paine—Taylor Swift’s PR mastermind. I am fascinated by her strategy and timing on everything, successfully capturing the attention of the world in an oversaturated atmosphere and creating cross-generational loyalty to one individual.
Q: When you stay at a hotel, which amenity do you take advantage of most?
A: I would say the concierge service because a strong team knows everything about the city you are visiting and has the connections to whip up an itinerary to create unforgettable memories.
Q: What is the best piece of advice you’ve received?
A: All good things take time.
Q: What’s your favorite way to spend a day off in Charleston?
A: Being outdoors! I love living close to the beach so anything to do with being by the water with friends sounds like a perfect day to me. I recently got into grilling so doing that with friends is a pleasure as well.
