  • We’re back with another BHC Team Spotlight, introducing you to the exceptional individuals behind our hotels, restaurants, venues and home office. This month’s spotlight is on Jennie Jaus, Door Greeter and member of the Guest Services team at The Charleston Place. Q: Where are you from? A: Charlotte, North Carolina. Q: How long have you been with The Charleston Place? A: A little over two years. Q: What is a skill you’ve always wanted to learn? A: I wanted to join the Navy and become a meteorologist! I love anything related to the Earth, atmosphere, and outer space. Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? A: I would love to travel to Ireland to explore my family’s roots! Or to NYC for Yankee baseball and Broadway shows. Q: What’s your favorite thing about your job? A: I love my job on every level — from the company I work for, to the hotel management, to all the guests who visit Charleston's Living Room. I love it all! Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and how would you use it? A: Zoolingualism! I'd use it to talk to all kinds of animals, especially sharks (they're my spirit animal!). Q: What’s your favorite way to spend a day off in Charleston? A: My favorite days off are spent by the water, whether on a beach or near marshland. I especially love Folly Beach!

Model Room Review The Charleston Place was this week! (one of many) Countless hours and even more thought about each and every detail of how our new rooms will look, feel, and become your home away from home have been considered and role played and designed for – still tweaking and can’t wait to share more in the coming months as we get closer to the big reveal! Always a pleasure to work alongside the unbelievably talented design team - Atelier Kim - and my partner in crime - Austin Conger on all. #ForTheLoveOfHospitality Beemok Hospitality Collection (BHC)

B.S. in Computer Information Systems | College of Charleston

I recently completed a 12-week internship with Beemok Hospitality Collection (BHC) as an Information Technology Intern. During my time there, I learned how to configure, secure, and manage network equipment, including switches, firewalls, and associated software. I conducted a thorough equipment inventory and implemented an effective asset-tracking system across BHC’s portfolio. Additionally, I reviewed departmental hospitality programs, evaluated IT contracts, maintained vendor relationships with various SaaS companies, and strategized budgets for both core operational software requirements and customer-facing infrastructure and technology.   The hospitality industry has already taught me so much, and it has been incredibly rewarding. BHC enriches lives through intentional hospitality and extraordinary experiences. Fortunately, I had the chance to experience some of that magic firsthand—from caviar tastings at Sorelle to touring what will soon be the most beautiful hotel in downtown Charleston, The Cooper Hotel, and playing pickleball at The Charleston Place during Wimbledon and the Olympics. Each day offered a new experience and reinforced my belief in BHC’s vision.   With that said, I am excited to share that I’ve accepted an offer to continue working with this amazing team through the Fall semester. BHC provides unique experiences to both its employees and guests, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the future of the Collection. Special thanks to my reports Elvin V., Mary Shields, and fellow interns Thomas McGough, Micah DiCarlo, and Madeline Bendziewicz for a great summer!
