Today is Government Communicators Day. What exactly is a government communicator? They come in all shades and titles: Public Information Officer (PIO), Chief Communications Officer (CCO), Director of Communications, Public Affairs Officer (PAO), Communications Specialists, Videographers, Outreach Specialists, and the list goes on. Contrary to popular belief, government communicators don’t tweet GIFS and make silly videos all day on their phones. They’re overseeing strategic communication plans for their agencies, increasing public engagement through awareness campaigns and outreach, improving employee engagement with internal communication, responding to emergencies, answering media questions with facts, creating graphics and videos to better educate the public, and planning numerous large-scale events. We advise, film, photograph, write, create, edit, strategize, plan, and manage crises. It’s a job that wears numerous hats, but we love what we do and hope to represent our respective agencies with honesty, integrity, and impartiality. Fresno County communicators are grateful for the support of their staff, department heads, and the Board of Supervisors. #WeAreFresnoCounty #governmentcommunicatorsday California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO)

This morning, over 2,600 people gathered in Downtown Fresno for the annual Fresno-Clovis Prayer Breakfast, including Fresno County leaders CAO Paul Nerland, DA Lisa Smittcamp, Sheriff John Zanoni, Supervisors Nathan Magsig and Garry Bredefeld, and Assessor-Recorder Paul Dictos. It is the largest Prayer Breakfast in the nation outside of the National Prayer Breakfast in the U.S. Capitol. Keynote speaker Dallas Jenkins, creator/writer/director of the popular global series “The Chosen”, inspired the crowd with his moving story about faith and the power of prayer when anyone is experiencing a “Red Sea Moment,” or an insurmountable trial. It was a powerful breakfast that united our community through the shared experience of prayer, reflection, worship, and connection—creating a beautiful, meaningful experience for all who attended. It was a powerful reminder that faith has the power to bring people together, strengthen our communities, and guide us toward a future filled with hope and compassion. We are grateful for this time to come together as a community and pray for the well-being of our County, cities, leaders, and residents. Such mornings reaffirm the strength of faith and the importance of community. #FresnoClovisPrayerBreakfast
