About us
Tulare County, with a population of approximately 477,000 is located in the heart of Central California at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountain range known as Sequoia Valley. Los Angeles is 200 miles to the south and the Bay Area is 225 miles to the north. Centrally located within the State of California, Tulare County is situated in a geographically diverse region. The County includes an area of 4,863 square miles. Mountain peaks of the Sierra Nevada range rise to more than 14,000 feet in its Eastern half. Meanwhile, the extensively cultivated and very fertile valley floor in the Western half, has allowed Tulare County to become the top producer of agricultural commodities in the United States. In addition to substantial packing / shipping operations, light and medium manufacturing plants are increasing in number and are becoming an important factor in the County's total economic picture.

We are so proud to see our staff beginning a new adventure in law school! Michelle Marquez has been a paralegal in the office since 2006. She has always been interested in the law, but is now inspired to further her education and take a more direct role in shaping outcomes and advocating for her clients. Jorge Gutierrez-Esparza began his career with the office in June 2024 as a paralegal. He made his decision to attend law school to further his career and make an impact on his community. Brianna Sigala started as a civil office assistant in November 2024. As a child, she was inspired by Elle Woods' superior force in the movie Legally blonde. Growing up in a competitive family, she knew she wanted to be a titan in an often male-dominated field. We are excited for what your future will bring to the legal community. Congratulations!

The annual California State Association of Counties® (CSAC) Institute is now in session, and we are proud to announce the County of Tulare’s representatives for this prestigious leadership program. Over the next several months, these dedicated professionals will participate in dynamic and interactive courses led by highly qualified government leaders, honing their skills to better serve our community alongside representatives from Fresno, Madera, and Kings counties. The program began with its first session, “Leadership Fundamentals and Public Service Values,” hosted at Fresno County’s Department of Social Services - Hope Center. Participants were welcomed by Fresno County Administrative Officer Paul Nerland and CSAC Foundation COO Paul Danczyk, PhD. This year’s cohort embarks on a journey to strengthen leadership capacity through the CSAC William “Bill” Chiat Institute for Excellence in County Government, a cornerstone of professional development for county officials across California. Tulare County is proud of its history with the CSAC Institute. Many of our staff, including County Administrative Officer Jason Britt, are CSAC alumni who continue to contribute to the development of leaders statewide. We are excited to support this year’s cohort of outstanding Tulare County representatives as they embark on this transformative experience. We look forward to the innovative ideas and enhanced leadership skills they will bring back to their teams and agencies.
