This morning, we wrapped up our meeting with an inspiring 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 by Jorge DeMoya, who shared the impactful mission of the De Moya Foundation https://lnkd.in/evZdDqZ. Founded as a labor of love for his younger brother with developmental disabilities, the foundation is dedicated to helping young adults with unique abilities find fulfilling employment and contribute meaningfully to society.

- 𝐓𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡: Jorge emphasized the foundation's unique strategy of first engaging with businesses to understand their needs. This ensures that young adults are matched with roles that fit their skills, creating a win-win situation for employers and employees.
- 𝐉𝐨𝐛 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭: The foundation provides extensive job coaching, with on-site coaches available for the first three weeks. This hands-on support has led to an impressive 85% 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 among employees.
- 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬: Jorge outlined several advantages for employers, including disability training, tax credits, and ongoing support to help integrate new employees into the workplace.
- 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥-𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐬: The foundation runs monthly "power-up" workshops led by the young adults themselves. These sessions focus on essential skills like resume writing, hygiene, and communication, fostering peer learning and empowerment.
- 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Jorge shared personal anecdotes and photos that showcased the foundation's family-oriented and creative culture, inviting collaboration from our BNI group to further support this important cause.

During the meeting, we also heard about some valuable referrals and testimonials:
- Mery Dominguez, ED.S. mentioned she passed a referral to Patsy I. Linares, MSM, with plans to follow up on that opportunity.
- Ricardo Arce expressed gratitude to Zascha Blanco Abbott for a referral that led to a productive one-on-one meeting.
While time constraints meant not every referral was highlighted, the collaboration´s flow within our group remains strong.
