About us

First Tee - Greater Charlotte will impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. First Tee - Greater Charlotte was established in 2003 to teach children life skills through the game of golf. It is one of 196 chapters of The National First Tee organization. The First Tee program is based on nine core values that are taught through the character education program: responsibility, respect, honesty, judgment, courtesy, integrity, confidence, perseverance, and sportsmanship. At our Learning Academy is located at The Dr. Charles L. Sifford Golf Course at Revolution Park. We also serve participants at Charles T Myers Golf Club, Sunset Hills Golf Club, Springfield Golf Club, Fort Mill Golf Club, Stonebridge Golf Club, and Emerald Lake Golf Club. We will reach over 1700 participants for this year in our after-school programs. First Tee's Life Skills Experience is a curriculum based program developed by educators. A recent national survey of First Tee parents revealed some powerful data: 74% observed a positive change in their child's communication skills; 74% observed a positive change in their child's display of responsibility; 76% observed an increase in their child's confidence; 52% observed that their child made better grades in school and 66% observed a positive change in their child's social ability.
