We are excited to share a new award announcement for research in operational medicine, specifically in nutrition research. Congratulations to Dr. Mary McCarthy and the team on this exciting news! ⭐ Focus Research Area: Operational Medicine ⭐ Study Title: A double-blind randomized controlled trial evaluating response to vitamin D3 and K2 supplementation through inflammatory markers and the gut microbiome in healthcare personnel [VITAL TOGETHER Study]. ⭐ Amount: $400,000 ⭐ PI: Mary S McCarthy, PhD, RN, CNSC, FASPEN, FAAN ⭐ Sponsor: TriService Nursing Research Program (TSNRP) ⭐ Site: Madigan Army Medical Center The study investigates the genetic and non-genetic factors in the optimal response to Vitamin D and K supplementation. It explores the genetic determinants in the metabolic pathway of vitamin D and K, the effect on gut microorganisms, and the influence of dietary and environmental factors.
