Twenty-five years ago, disability rights activist James Charlton popularized the powerful phrase, 'Nothing about us without us,' embodying the conviction of people with disabilities that they know what is best for them. While strides have been made toward more inclusive research approaches, true representation in research still falls short. Our latest blog outlines three equity-based principles—representation, engagement, and leveraging assets—that are essential for centering people with disabilities in research decision-making. Let’s build a future where inclusion is not just a goal, but a standard. https://lnkd.in/eKTiCjfz Jay Feldman Robin Wisniewski, Ph.D., NCSP #DisabilityRights #InclusiveResearch #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs #EquityInAction #DDAM2024

We’re excited to share that Phillip W. Graham from RTI International will be honored at this year’s Bennett Lecture in Prevention Science! Phillip is a leading expert in community research, focusing on how to make research impactful in diverse settings. Join him at Penn State University Park campus on October 2 & 3 to hear his public lectures on making research work in real-world communities.
The Bennett Lecture in Prevention Science is a cherished annual tradition. Each fall, we honor a global leader in prevention science, who receives an honorarium and travels to Penn State's University Park campus to deliver two engaging lectures that are free and open to the public. They also meet with researchers, students, and staff to exchange ideas for moving the field of prevention forward. This year, we are honoring Phillip W. Graham of RTI International, who is a leading expert on community-level research and the complexities of implementing research in diverse communities, where variability in contexts and resource constraints pose significant challenges to traditional research methodologies. He will speak about how rigorous research can be both impactful and sustainable. To learn more about his public lectures scheduled for Oct. 2 & 3, please visit https://ow.ly/zyfQ50Tmov5
