  • 🧠 Strengthening Global Action on Alzheimer’s and Brain Health Dr. Sarbani Chakraborty from the Global Brain Health Unit, Department of Neurology, University Hospital at TUM, and Center for Global Health at TUM School of Medicine and Health recently participated in a G7 Health Ministers Meeting side event organized by the Davos Alzheimer’s Collaborative, the Global CEO’s Initiative on Alzheimer’s, and the European Brain Council in Ancona, Italy. The event underscored the urgent need for a global response to Alzheimer’s disease. The communiqué from this side event can be found here: https://lnkd.in/ey4eRa-J During the meeting, the Global Brain Health Partnership (GBHP) emphasized the critical importance of: - Expanding global and cross-sector collaboration - Investing in health system preparedness - Building capabilities for early detection and accurate diagnosis We also discussed the vital synergies between brain health protection and other non-communicable disease (NCD) prevention interventions. The global community must adopt synergistic approaches to tackle brain health, especially during times of global fiscal constraints. By working together and integrating brain health initiatives into broader health strategies, we can foster a healthier future for individuals and communities worldwide. Let’s unite our efforts to combat Alzheimer’s and enhance brain health for all!

🧠 🎉 Launching the Global Brain Health Partnership! 🎉🧠 🌍 Did you know that neurological disorders are the leading cause of disability worldwide? Over 3 billion people are affected, with more than 80% of neurological deaths and health loss occurring in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The celebrations of Brain Awareness Month in June and World Brain Day in July remind us of the critical importance of addressing these growing challenges. We must prioritize promoting equitable Brain Health across different countries and within disadvantaged populations. 🎊 The Global Brain Health Unit within the Department of Neurology and attached to the Center for Global Health (CGH) at TUM (Technical University of Munich) and the Harvard Program in Global Surgery and Social Change within the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School are delighted to announce the launch of The Global Brain Health Partnership. This partnership will advance the implementation of evidence-based Brain Health interventions and promote Brain Health equity. 🌐 Our partnership includes specialists in neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, public health, and implementation science, amongst others. Our team is not only diverse, but also deeply committed to advancing Brain Health. We aim to establish a global platform to encourage collaboration in implementing evidence-based Brain Health interventions and sharing best practices worldwide, focusing on LMICs. National and global implementation of action plans, like the World Health Organization Intersectoral Global Action Plan on Epilepsy and Other Neurological Disorders (2022 – 2031) (IGAP), must be strongly supported through country implementation. This collective effort requires the support of all stakeholders, including a clear role for research institutions in implementation research, including testing optimal implementation pathways and documenting the impact on Brain Health. 🔜 Stay tuned for further announcements and initiatives as we work together to make a global impact on Brain Health! #GlobalHealth #BrainHealth #Partnership #Neurology #PublicHealth #HealthEquity #GlobalPartnership #MedicalResearch
