🧠 🎉 Launching the Global Brain Health Partnership! 🎉🧠 🌍 Did you know that neurological disorders are the leading cause of disability worldwide? Over 3 billion people are affected, with more than 80% of neurological deaths and health loss occurring in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The celebrations of Brain Awareness Month in June and World Brain Day in July remind us of the critical importance of addressing these growing challenges. We must prioritize promoting equitable Brain Health across different countries and within disadvantaged populations. 🎊 The Global Brain Health Unit within the Department of Neurology and attached to the Center for Global Health (CGH) at TUM (Technical University of Munich) and the Harvard Program in Global Surgery and Social Change within the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School are delighted to announce the launch of The Global Brain Health Partnership. This partnership will advance the implementation of evidence-based Brain Health interventions and promote Brain Health equity. 🌐 Our partnership includes specialists in neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, public health, and implementation science, amongst others. Our team is not only diverse, but also deeply committed to advancing Brain Health. We aim to establish a global platform to encourage collaboration in implementing evidence-based Brain Health interventions and sharing best practices worldwide, focusing on LMICs. National and global implementation of action plans, like the World Health Organization Intersectoral Global Action Plan on Epilepsy and Other Neurological Disorders (2022 – 2031) (IGAP), must be strongly supported through country implementation.
