  • Mental Health Alert: The Hidden Impact of Heat We're proud to share that Asly Guevara, a dedicated professional from The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD, recently appeared on Univision 45 Houston to discuss an often-overlooked issue: the impact of extreme heat on mental health. Key points from Asly's expert discussion: 1. Cognitive Function: Heat can impair concentration and decision-making abilities. 2. Sleep Quality: High temperatures often lead to sleep disturbances, affecting overall well-being. 3. Emotional Regulation: Excessive heat may trigger mood swings and heightened irritability. 4. Stress Levels: Prolonged heat exposure can exacerbate stress and anxiety. As we navigate another challenging summer, it's crucial for both individuals and organizations to recognize these signs. Employers should be aware of how heat might affect their workforce's mental health and productivity. We commend Univision 45 Houston for bringing attention to this important topic and thank Asly for sharing her expertise. Let's work together to create environments that support both physical and mental health during extreme weather conditions. https://lnkd.in/g34aTFCW #MentalHealthAwareness #WorkplaceWellness #HeatWave #PublicHealth #TheHarrisCenter #UnivisionHouston
