About us

The mission of The Jared Box Project is to bring joy and smiles to children in the hospital. A Jared Box is a plastic shoebox filled with small gifts, toys, cards, games, and other fun activities. The Jared Box Project was established in 2001 to honor Jared, a brave little boy who battled cancer with courage, faith, and a caring spirit that continues to inspire us all. We picked up where Jared left off and are sharing toys with children in the hospital. Over One Million Jared Boxes have been delivered to over 500 hospitals across the country! Join us! Make Jared Boxes for the children in your local hospital.

The Jared Box Project in Pittsburgh! "My 6 year old daughter had surgery today at Allegheny Health Network -Wexford, and it was such a welcome surprise for you to give her this box of toys! It really boosted her spirits and took her mind off things while we were waiting. The doctors and nurses commented on how great she did when she went back to surgery. And now we have a big box of toys to play with in recovery! Thank you so much, we really appreciate it! Keep up the good work!" - KD #jaredbox #jaredboxsmiles

💙 Thrilled to have joined my Baker Tilly US colleagues working with Cindy Kolarik to support The Jared Box Project . Together, we packed over 50 boxes to brighten the days of children in hospitals. Jared’s story is truly inspiring, and it's incredible to see how these simple acts of kindness can make a big difference. I encourage everyone to get involved and help bring comfort and smiles to young patients. 💜 #CommunityImpact #Teamwork #JaredBoxProject #NewPrincipalExperience

The Jared Box Project in West Virginia! Thank you to the Fairmont Rotary Club members for making Jared Boxes for the children at Mon Health Marion Neighborhood Hospital. The 'give local' nature of this project is one of the keys to success. Great job, thank you Rotary Club.

Mount Nittany Health donated $2,500 to The Jared Box Project!   For over 22 years, The Jared Box Project has delivered smiles, laughter, and hope to children in hospitals across the country. Over 500 hospitals across the country are recipients of Jared Boxes. Locally, Mount Nittany Health has been giving out Jared Boxes for over 20 years. To show their support, Mount Nittany Health donated $2,500 to The Jared Box Project. In addition, members of the Imaging Department at Mount Nittany Medical Center made 75 Jared Boxes. At Mount Nittany Health, Jared Boxes are given to children in the emergency department, patients rooms, and at the outpatient surgical center. "It can be scary for kids when they are in the Emergency Department," said Kerri Kubalak, Community Engagement Manager, Mount Nittany Health. "Jared Boxes offer a crucial distraction during these stressful times. We are fortunate to receive ongoing support from our local community, who generously donate Jared Boxes to our facility." “We are honored and delighted to receive this generous donation from Mount Nittany Health. This donation allows us to continue to deliver Jared Boxes to our community’s young patients.  Over 2,000 Jared Boxes are given out locally each year. These little Jared Boxes calm nerves and  lift spirits during hospital visits,” said Cindy Kolarik, Executive Director, The Jared Box Project. Powerful Words... "Thank you for supplying a wonderful Jared Box for my 5 year old son, Eli. It gives him something to look forward to while going to daily radiation treatment. Some days he just looks through it and the next day he might choose two items. It means a lot to him to have a box that belongs to him, in a place where he has no control or say as to what happens. The joy you give him daily is priceless. Thank you for all your efforts. God Bless you." - RC
