Preventing death and disability due to aortic dissection.
About us
For more than 20 years, The John Ritter Foundation has remained committed to our goal of raising awareness and changing outcomes. In 2003, John Ritter — beloved actor, husband, father, and friend — died suddenly due to a misdiagnosed thoracic aortic dissection. Since that time, his family and loved ones have worked to ensure his legacy helps save the lives of others. Join us as we work to fund research, provide education, and raise awareness of thoracic aortic aneurysm and dissection. Together we can save lives.

After losing his father to an aortic dissection and then suffering his own, Neil was left paralyzed and looking for answers when his doctors couldn’t find the cause. The work of researchers at The John Ritter Research Program identified a previously unknown genetic cause of dissections in Neil's family. After answering the call to give back to the aortic community by participating in the John Ritter Foundation's Aorta Advocate program, Neil's second chapter led to a lifesaving surgery. https://lnkd.in/gCjRt9SN

Exciting Research Opportunity: Sports and Thoracic Aortic Disease Dr. Siddharth Prakash, a cardiologist and member of the John Ritter Foundation's Professional Advisory Board, is calling for patients to participate in a study on exercise. This survey-based research aims to explore the relationship between competitive sports participation and health outcomes in individuals with thoracic aortic disease. The purpose of this study is to collect data from individuals who have: - been diagnosed with aortic aneurysm OR survived an aortic dissection, and - participate or have participated in competitive athletic events Please note: competitive athletic events include ALL officially timed events or events where there was a winner or ranking of results. Examples include 5K's, tennis tournaments, competitive ball room dancing - you name it! If you fit the above eligibility criteria or know someone who does, please consider participating. The deadline to participate is August 10th, 2024. The survey takes a few minutes to complete. Please read each question carefully before answering.
