The Lotus Project is excited to announce that we will be hosting an in-person Mental Health Summit/Workshop: Improving Mental Health Services for Asian American & Asian Immigrant (AAAI) Communities in Atlanta on Friday, March 15, 2024! March 16, 2024 will mark the 3-year anniversary of the Atlanta spa shootings that killed eight people, six of which were women of Asian descent. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, AAAIs have been exposed to increased violence and harassment, which have been linked to increased vulnerability to racial stress, trauma, and worsened mental health outcomes. Given the growing AAAI population in Atlanta, this workshop aims to connect researchers, practitioners, and community leaders in order to promote greater culturally sensitive trauma-informed care and prevention for underserved AAAI children and families. Day 2 of the summit will be youth-focused and include various activities and discussions on addressing issues of youth mental health in Atlanta! Registration is free and open now!
