We released our 2024 Crop Robotics Landscape today at the #FIRA conference. You can download it via the link below. Compared to our 2022 Landscape, the 2024 Landscape shows nearly 100 net new #robotics companies for a total of over 330. In the accompanying analysis we state that, while the crop robotics space still early, there are encouraging signs of adoption of machines in the field and some large funding rounds for growth-stage companies. Thank you Walt Duflock and Western Growers for your help to make this happen. #agtech Chris Taylor Rob Trice Michael Rose Better Food Ventures https://lnkd.in/gGDfWphp

Connecting food, agriculture and information technology innovators for thought and action leadership.
About us
The Mixing Bowl connects innovators in Food, Agriculture & Information Technology. Our purpose is to stimulate the adoption of IT innovation to the food and agriculture industries through business-focused dialogue between existing industry players, start-ups and investors, and other food innovators. The Mixing Bowl was first conceived in 2014 by people in Silicon Valley who had seen other industries– such as telecom, auto, finance, fashion, healthcare, and education– connect with Silicon Valley’s IT innovation ecosystem. The Food & Agriculture sectors are among the largest industries in the world, and these sectors need new solutions to feed billions more people in the coming years. The food and agriculture industries need to continue to provide food to people in a safe and efficient manner, and must also respond to new challenges like environmental sustainability, climate change, and changing consumer preferences, including a rising desire for more local and organic foods, greater food information transparency, and more convenience. Silicon Valley is an established hub of IT innovation. It is recognized for its agility and openness, including its willingness to network with other innovators from outside Silicon Valley. In this vein, the Mixing Bowl, while started in Silicon Valley, sees as part of its role to help connect food and agriculture IT innovators from around the world.

Great post by Henry Gordon-Smith and his team digging into the North Amercian greenhouse market -be sure to read the solid ongoing comments/discussion! #greenhouse #CEA Rob Trice #agriculture #Farming Chris Taylor
🌱 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮’𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀? 🌱 At the inaugural CEAg World conference during a dinner organized by Grodan I was chatting with Nadia Sabeh PhD, PE, LEED AP about why the US doesn't have a cluster of greenhouses like 🇨🇦 Canada does. Christopher Higgins, a highly respected CEA expert was there too and he responded with two words: "currency arbitrage." I wanted to learn more and after a deep dive, it’s clear he’s right—the exchange rate between the US and Canadian dollars gives Leamington a key advantage. But it's not just about exchange rates. Labor and energy savings, paired with access to US markets, outweigh higher equipment costs and taxes. The result? Lower operational costs, allowing Leamington to thrive in greenhouse farming. 💡 Learn more in my latest article and let me know what you think! 🇺🇸 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙐𝙎 𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨?𝙇𝙚𝙩’𝙨 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙪𝙨𝙨! #agriculture #greenhouses #currencyarbitrage #agribusiness #sustainability #canada #USA #Trade #CEA

The Mixing Bowl was pleased to work with partners to help USDA with the initial design of their Soil Carbon GHG Quantification system through the “event storming” activity we undertook on October 24th. Attached is a summary of the event as well as a link to the Miro board with 2000 objects participants contributed in a matter of hours. We look forward to “building beta” systems with USDA in 2024! https://lnkd.in/g6ep-bNW #sustainability #design Chris Taylor #soilhealth #database #agtech Rob Trice #structure Michael Rose #claims #automated #certification #ghgaccounting
