We very much welcome the new University of Roehampton Take Note Resources; 100 Everyday Musical Ideas for Carers to Use with Older People, created by Adam Ockelford and Fiona Costa. Congratulatons on an excellent piece of work. Live Music Now sponsored the resource with the generous support of the The Rayne Foundation and the Linbury Trust. https://lnkd.in/dmnAdzEQ This new resource offers practical ideas to integrate music into day to day dementia care and is useable by people who might not consider themselves musical. At yesterday's launch at the University of Roehampton, Adam Ockleford discussed how this project had showed him that people living with dementia can discover and learn new ways to make music, as well as maintaining and reviving existing skills and abilities. These resources give lots of easy ways in for people caring for them to support this, and as Adam put it to “Do the music first”. "We get bogged down with cooking and personal care, and making connections can get lost. Doing the music sessions had a huge impact. They helped to get the connections back. Not only for the relationships with residents but also as a team as well.” - Indira Baster, Manager at Params Care Home Also supporting and featuring at the launch were chair of Live Music Now, Sir Vernon Ellis, musician Christopher Roberts, as well as guests from Dementia Carers Count and the National Care Forum, with a lovely performance from the Warblers singers from Cinnamon Care Collection. Live Music Now will use the new Take Note resource alongside our Live Music In Care programme, which integrates music into the living and caring experience. As well as growing new skills and confidence in the workforce and supporting care homes to be happier places to live, we also see additional benefits such as reduced medication, improved quality of care and increased job satisfaction. #LiveMusicInCare #TakeNote #MusicalCare #MusicAndDementia #PowerOfMusicFund
