Meet the Team: Abby Olson, Studio   What is your job role? My current role is Design Director, leading our global product and project design teams. I began my career at The Rug Company in 2013 as the only full-time designer in the US. Between that position and now, I’ve also been the US Studio Manager and the US Studio Director.   How long have you been at The Rug Company? 11 years!   What has been a career highlight during your time at The Rug Company? Product wise, it has to be collaborating with leading lights of the industry: Chihuly, Kelly Wearstler, Sarabande, and other names yet to be announced. I’m really excited about Kelly Wearstler’s upcoming collection and can’t wait to see how it’s received. What makes you proud to work for The Rug Company? The product, the people, and the craftsmanship. Our design team also makes me extremely proud every day – I am continuously learning, growing, and evolving by working alongside each of them. What is your favourite rug? California Poppy by Rodarte.   What is your favourite roomshot? Oyster by Chihuly.

This six-story Tribeca townhouse offers an immersive experience, housing bold colours and graphic creations. Throughout this project, a number of The Rug Company’s bespoke designs can be seen, transitioning whimsical pieces of art from the walls to the floor. Meet the Team: Sam Turner, Sales   What is your job role? I am Head of Sales and was previously a Director but have done most roles over the years! How long have you been at The Rug Company? 26 years. What has been a career highlight during your time at The Rug Company?  Supplying rugs to Arsenal legend Tony Adams. What makes you proud to work for The Rug Company? Our collaborations and the projects we have done.   What is your favourite rug?  Pony by Alexander McQueen. What is your favourite roomshot? It has to be Cascadia Fawn from the Kelly Wearstler shoot at Storer House in LA.

Meet the Team: George Barreto, Global Partners & Middle East   What is your job role? My current job role is Operations Director, Global Partners & Middle East. Previously I have held the following job titles: Showroom Sales Associate, Logistics Manager, Franchise Accounts Manager and Global Distribution Account Manager. How long have you been at The Rug Company? 23 years. What has been a career highlight during your time at The Rug Company?  Throughout the years there have been numerous highlights but the pinnacle of my career thus far has been my promotion to my current role. This position has afforded me the privilege of being part of an exceptional team that is responsible for introducing and developing our brand in the Middle East. What makes you proud to work for The Rug Company? Beyond the exceptional products and services, and the opportunity to be surrounded by creativity and talented individuals, what truly makes me proud is the sense of belonging to a ‘family’ that supports, respects, and admires one another.   What is your favourite rug?  That’s a challenging question as my preferences evolve over time, but my ultimate favourite rug remains the classic Stripe by Paul Smith. What is your favourite roomshot? Most recently, Spray Swirl by Paul Smith.
