    Jonathan Rose Companies and Schochet join Medford Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn and state officials in celebrating $11 million renovation at Riverside Towers, extending long-term affordability and greater amenities for seniors. Public officials included: Massachusetts State Senator Pat Jehlen ; State Representative State Representative Paul Donato ; Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koeh; Vice President of Multifamily Programs at MassHousing Mark Tede; Field Office Director for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Rhonda Siciliano and District Director for Congresswoman Katherine Clark Kelsey Perkins.   “We are thrilled to have completed another successful project with Jonathan Rose Companies, and to add Hebrew SeniorLife’s best-in-class services for our residents in a beautifully refreshed facility,” said Richard Henken, President and CEO of Schochet. “We are grateful for the support of our public sector partners, HUD and MassHousing, who once again helped us deliver on our shared mission of providing first class housing and services for lower income seniors.” The completed $11 million ($55,000 per unit) rehabilitation project, funded with a supplemental loan supplied by MassHousing, will ensure long term affordability in high quality service-enriched housing for elderly residents and people with disabilities for generations to come. Riverside Towers is located near Medford Square in the center of Medford and is within easy commuting distance from Boston.

    RHF's Capitol Towers (managed by Schochet in Hartford, CT) celebrates the latest expansion of its on-site services for seniors at the ribbon-cutting and opening of a new lounge along with Capitol Cuts, an in-house salon/barber shop offering discounted services to property residents and their pets. The air-conditioned new lounge includes an upgraded TV, expansion of comfortable seating, side tables with charging stations and magazine holders, reading nooks with adjustable lighting, books donated by Hartford Library), plants, and a vending machine, providing a multi-purpose community space. Capitol Cuts (a name voted on by residents was decorated and renovated with new flooring and lighting, fixed walls, fresh paint, a hair sink, salon chair, benched waiting area, portable sitting hair dryer, and hair supplies/tools. With a comfy waiting bench outside. Industry Hair Studio (which has storefront salons in Hartford and New Britain) demonstrated its skills by provided free haircuts and/or styling for 12 men and 12-women residents at the grand opening and will continue to offer discounts for Capitol Towers residents on an on-going basis. The 47 attendees at the grand opening also enjoyed raffle gifts, snacks, refreshments, and music. Resident volunteers helped to prepare and break down the event. The new amenities are the most recent progression in on-going efforts by Schochet to expand on-site services and community interaction for seniors at the affordable housing properties it manages, increasing independence for those who are dependent on others for transportation assistance.
