Had a great conversation with Reuven Carlyle, Jonah Wagner, and Michael Grossman at #ClimateCapitalSummit during #NYCClimateWeek. We discussed the ways the private and public sector are working together at all levels to accelerate investment in the clean energy transition. Federal legislation and funding under the current Administration has grown significantly, especially through the IRA. The Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund has awarded $27 billion to subnational governments, nonprofits, and tribes for clean energy investments, including $7 billion to Climate United to catalyze private investment into the decarbonization of the transportation sector, single family homes, and multifamily housing. The DOE Loan Programs Office is finding and funding projects across a range of technical advancement -- from new technologies and demonstration projects to large, scalable deployments. In the private real estate sector, Jonathan Rose Companies is stacking incentives and grants across government programs, which is complex but necessary and opens new and deeper investment opportunities. The panel was moderated by Reuven Carlyle, former Washington State senator who championed many climate policies, including the State’s binding commitment to the Paris Climate Accords, showing States can lead the way. He's now founded Earth Finance, Inc. to accelerate investment in the private sector. Thanks to the Equal Ventures team for hosting an amazing summit, especially Grace Penders, Sophia Dodd, and Rick Zullo.
