The St. Louis American Newspaper is Missouri's largest, most widely-read weekly newspaper targeted to African Americans. The American publishes more than 70,000 copies every Thursday, and distributes them, free, at more than 845 locations throughout St. Louis. Continuously published, without missing a single issue, for 87 years, The St. Louis American newspaper has emerged as the leading, most-trusted voice of the area’s African-American community, and has extended its reach to become a major multi-platform media entity in Missouri. In 2012, The St. Louis American became the single largest weekly newspaper in the entire state of Missouri. A State of Missouri and City of St. Louis certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), founded in 1928, The St. Louis American newspaper is rapidly gaining more and more local, regional and national recognition and acclaim. Over the past three years alone, the St. Louis American has garnered nearly 200 local, regional, and national awards for excellence in journalism and design, as well as commitment to the community.
