Ahead of Thai Rock’s closure last week, many locals rushed to the restaurant one last time. In addition to the restaurant’s culinary staples and some live music from Aerial Acoustics, the night was also filled with memories as patrons recalled their previous visits and remembered Robert Kaskel, who passed away on Aug. 10, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. https://lnkd.in/dg3V8efV

“Every region of New York State will soon have brand new public pools to help provide New York families with safe ways to learn how to swim,” NYS Governor Kathy Hochul said in a statement. “There is a clear need and demand for reliable and accessible swimming facilities, and these programs will enhance the health and well-being of communities and families all across the state.” One of the 37 projects to receive funding was the Arverne East Aquatic Center, which the state awarded a $10 million investment. https://lnkd.in/deZyQbR7

Editorial: Actions, Not Words. “Queens has never been closer to community board representation that is truly reflective of our borough’s vast diversity than it is today,” said Richards. “Democracy is at its strongest when the voices of all the people it serves are elevated, a principle we are proud to strive toward with this new class of appointees.” That’s why The Wave has always preached “actions, not words” when endorsing candidates for office. Richards’ words, “Democracy is at its strongest when the voices of all the people it serves are elevated,” fly in the face of his actions. https://lnkd.in/dWpzB7Zi
