Election day is fast-approaching, and it’s likely that anxieties and tensions are or will be running high in the coming days. While we are experiencing global crises and unprecedented polarization that are unlikely to subside any time soon, we would like to offer several strategies for managing stressors that may arise professionally and beyond the boardroom, in our communities. Fostering equity and justice means stepping away from the neutral “comfort zone” where many of us feel most at ease. With this in mind, we gathered some strategies for managing political tensions that may arise at work in the coming days and weeks, from re-assessing organizational DEIJ values to devoting time to personal reflection even to simply pausing. From local school board elections to the presidential contest, voters this year have a veritable bounty of opportunities to exercise their power and help shape what education looks like in their neighborhoods, cities, states, and country. Now is the time to research those ballot initiatives, to attend those final candidate town halls and ask those tough questions, to cast a vote that supports our nation’s teachers and all our students, across all dimensions of diversity. And, in the meantime, to donate to a teacher trying their best to make magic for their students. https://lnkd.in/e3xv4btc
