We invest in, train, and connect community leaders to advance gender, racial and economic justice.
About us
Women’s Foundation California is a statewide public foundation dedicated to achieving gender, racial, and economic justice by centering the experience and expertise of communities most impacted by systemic injustice. We work to invest in, train, and connect community leaders to advance gender, racial, and economic justice. We do this by providing grants to small community-led organizations, training community leaders through the Women’s Policy Institute, and fostering a community of advocates, donors, policymakers, grantmakers, academics and many others through convenings to share knowledge and strengthen the social justice movement in California. Unlike private foundations, which are endowed with funds from a family’s wealth or corporate earnings, community foundations gather their financial contributions from the public — from individuals, families, and businesses who want to support social change. Learn more about our work by visiting our website: www.womensfoundca.org.

The #Olympics are more than just a global spectacle—they're a reflection of our ongoing societal struggles with gender diversity, inclusivity, and justice. While the 2024 Olympics have been celebrated as the first gender-equal games, it's crucial to look beyond the numbers. True gender equality is about dismantling rigid norms that marginalize those who don't fit narrow, Eurocentric standards of womanhood. The case of Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, who faced exclusion not for her talent but due to gender policing, highlights the pervasive transphobia and sexism in sports. This incident underscores the intersection of misogyny, racism, and anti-trans sentiments that continue to harm women worldwide. At Women’s Foundation California, we reaffirm our commitment to intersectional feminism and the belief that trans rights are human rights. The fight for gender justice demands that we challenge harmful ideologies, resist misinformation, and amplify the voices of those most marginalized. As we reflect on the achievements and challenges of this year’s games, let’s renew our commitment to creating a world where everyone is treated with dignity, respect, and equality—regardless of gender identity or expression. https://lnkd.in/gux4Yxzt #GenderJustice #IntersectionalFeminism #Olympics2024
