About us
Founded in 1973, the American Brain Tumor Association was the first and only national patient advocacy organization committed to funding brain tumor research and providing support and education programs for people of all tumor types and all ages. The mission of the American Brain Tumor Association is to advance the understanding and treatment of brain tumors with the goals of improving, extending and, ultimately, saving the lives of those impacted by a brain tumor diagnosis. We do this through interactions and engagements with brain tumor patients and their families, collaborations with allied groups and organizations, and the funding of brain tumor research. Today, the ABTA is a catalyst for research-based breakthroughs in the causes, diagnosis and treatment of brain tumors, and recognized as the leading resource in patient-centered brain tumor information, education and support.

🌟 Join us for “A Day of Hope” in Santa Monica this Saturday, October 26! 🌟 Maria Quiban meteorologist for #GoodDayLA and author of “You Can’t Do It Alone,” sat down with Wendy Santana ABTA’s Western Region Community Manager, to talk about the LA BT5K and why this event matters. Maria also spoke with Timothy Cloughesy (the UCLA Health neuro-oncologist who treated her late husband’s brain cancer), shedding light on the urgent need for brain tumor research. With over one million people living with a brain tumor, this cause is close to our hearts. Despite being the fifth-most common cancer, brain cancer research remains one of the least funded. Don’t miss your chance to make a difference! There’s a 5K run, and proceeds from The Lobster restaurant and Cirque du Soleil tickets will directly support life-changing research.
