Today, we're excited to see the result of this work, Isaac Lab, which is part of NVIDIA's latest release of Isaac Sim. Isaac Lab, available today, is an open-source framework for robot learning that aims to simplify common workflows, including reinforcement and imitation learning. "There’s been a lot of work in the field to make robots understand language, where you go from language to a simplified, high-level abstraction to robot actions. But the problem is that symbolic representation, or the list of things a robot can do, is very limited. Basically, robots can’t do very much. So even though we have large language models and large vision models that are very powerful, using them to make robots do a lot of different things is still an unsolved problem." Stefanie Tellex, Associate Professor of Computer Science at Brown University, is one of 12 visiting fellows at the Institute.
