The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture of the Riverside Art Museum

We invite you to commemorate the vision, commitment, and community that made The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture a reality by donating today in honor of the center’s accomplishments of the past two years. Your donation makes possible exhibitions that work to ensure Chicano Art is preserved in the American Art canon as well as education programs that uplift Chicana/o/x artists. In the fall we will celebrate all that has been made possible with the unveiling of a Meet Me at The Cheech sculpture by Ignacio Gomez so visitors for years to come can be sure to meet Cheech at The Cheech. Since opening our doors in June 2022, we have welcomed over 223,000 visitors including 18,000 students on tour, to learn more about Chicano art. More than 327 artists’ work have been exhibited and 19 curators have organized exhibitions. More than 1,000 press impressions from across the nation shared the news of this special center. The Cheech was nominated for USA Today Readers' Choice 2024 Award for Best New Museum. In July 2023, the Riverside Art Museum received an Institute of Museum and Library Service’s national medal, the highest honor given to museums, for our work in partnership with the community to launch The Cheech. The City of Riverside won the 2024 California League of City’s Helen Putnam Award for Economic Development through the Arts for the public-private partnership. And Hyperallergic selected the inaugural Cheech Collects exhibition as one of the Top 2022 Exhibitions worldwide. This daring public-private partnership is testament to the commitment of our leaders, community members, and donors like you who believed that the seemingly impossible could happen.
