🚨 Government Shutdown Averted - What Does This Mean for Us? 🚨 In a critical move, U.S. leaders recently passed a Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the federal government, avoiding a shutdown before the March 14, 2025, deadline. Traditionally, CRs maintain current fiscal year funding, but this time, the Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives made notable changes: 🔻 $13B cut from nondefense spending 🔻 $20B cut from the IRS budget 🔻 $1B cut from the District of Columbia’s budget 🔺 $6B increase in defense spending With the House adjourned, the U.S. Senate faced a tough decision: approve the bill or risk a government shutdown. Want to understand the full implications of these changes? Dive into the details in our latest post. Read now: https://lnkd.in/eksHSJh9 #GovernmentShutdown #Policy #SeriousIllness #FederalGovernment

The Coalition to Transform Advanced Care (C-TAC) reposted this
Earlier access to #palliativecare and #supportivecare is not only the right thing to do for people going through #cancer, but it helps people live longer, improves quality of life for family caregivers, keeps people from going to the hospital for things they can manage at home, and it saves the person with cancer and the healthcare system money. Very rarely are all incentives aligned. So why don’t more people get access? Why is this not standard of care? My co-presenters and I explored 4 themes: 1. People with cancer aren’t aware they should be getting better care. 2. Clinicians don’t know enough about the services available to their patients to manage pain and other problems that arise with treatment. 3. Demands on clinician time and productivity make it difficult to insert palliative care into the clinical workflow. 4. Financial barriers create limited access to this necessary service. These are barriers we can and must overcome. Thank you to the The Sheri and Les Biller Family Foundation and Healing Works Foundation for generously supporting the Value in Supportive Cancer Care Initiative, focused on delivering real-world impact by expanding access to supportive cancer care, including palliative care services. So excited to be partnering with an amazing project team, including Brian Cassel, Shirley Otis-Green, MSW, MA, ACSW, LCSW, OSWC, FNAP, FAOSW, and Marian Grant, DNP, ACNP-BC, ACHPN, FPCN, FAAN. We’re excited to work with The Coalition to Transform Advanced Care (C-TAC) as an advocacy partner to ensure that what we learn is shared with federal and state policy makers! If you’re a health plan or cancer center in Ohio, North Carolina, Utah, or New Jersey, let’s talk!
The TFA Analytics team is excited to be in Washington, DC at the ACCC Business Leadership Summit where we're sharing and discussing the Value in Supportive Cancer Care Initiative with our partner the Biller Family Foundation. Great running into our partners and clients at the meeting!

In 2024, we achieved policy wins on multiple fronts. We made progress with both CMS and Medicaid, and reached out to policymakers with a bipartisan message, backed by evidence, that improving care for those with serious illness not only improves care quality but also reduces costs. C-TAC pays tribute to Rev. Dr. Tyrone Pitts for the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference “Beautiful Are the Feet” Award. With this recognition, it is our hope at C-TAC that more will hear about Dr. Pitt’s ethos of community, apply it, and share what they are learning in our collective efforts of helping our fellow members of society – and ourselves – heal.

The first 100 days of the Trump Administration and 119th Congress offer a pivotal opportunity to enact bold policies that improve the quality of care for individuals with serious illness while reducing overall healthcare costs. By addressing key policy priorities, we can create a healthcare system that delivers better outcomes for patients and families.
