Meet FCA Kenya leader James Otundo, a former star athlete turned coach, who has learned to let go and let God lead. Growing up in Nairobi’s Kawangware slum, basketball shaped James' faith and fueled his passion for helping others. When a severe knee injury sidelined his dreams, he discovered his true calling—coaching youth not just in sports but in life. Now, through Fellowship of Christian Athletes, James is transforming lives on and off the court, equipping coaches and leading young athletes to know Christ. "Coaching has become my platform for sharing God’s love," James says, living out Psalm 27:13-14 as he guides others to find hope and purpose in Christ. #ministyimpact #fcateam 📰 https://bit.ly/4hjBUMJ

Coach, you've been called for a purpose greater than wins and titles. King Solomon once said, “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.” (Ecclesiastes 1:14). So why coach if the trophies will fade? Because God has entrusted you with a mission that outlasts the game. Coaching isn’t just a job; it’s a calling to disciple. When you coach, you’re uniquely positioned to guide athletes to see beyond the scoreboard and embrace a purpose anchored in God’s truth. “Make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:16-20) isn’t just a verse—it’s our playbook. Every huddle, every setback, every win is a chance to lead them closer to God. So, coach, step back from the grind and ask: How can I disciple my players today? Your impact goes beyond the field; it’s an eternal legacy. #CoachOnPurpose #KingdomMindset #DiscipleThroughSports 🏅🙏 📰 https://bit.ly/3BQFPQC

From Ego to Faith: Connor Frith’s Journey Through Basketball and Beyond 🏀 Arizona native Connor Frith’s love for basketball began at age 4, but little did he know how much it would shape his life. "Basketball came naturally to me, which kind of started my ego," he admits. But by seventh grade, Connor realized talent alone wouldn’t be enough—he needed to work harder as competition grew. As Connor chased his dream of playing college ball, his focus shifted entirely to himself, sidelining relationships and faith along the way. Despite being saved as a high school freshman, Connor admits he wasn’t living in God’s will, ignoring advice from friends about his arrogance. His turning point came during an AAU game, where his poor performance cost him a college scholarship opportunity. The weight of failure left Connor spiraling into despair until his brother intervened. Together, they reconnected with a basketball trainer who had been urging Connor to attend a Bible study. It was there that Connor finally understood grace and the true purpose of life: building God’s Kingdom, not his own. 🙏 "That summer I played some of the best basketball of my life, but this time it wasn’t all about me." Connor eventually walked on to Utah Tech University’s team, but God had other plans. A series of events led him to the women's basketball practice squad, where he later earned a scholarship as the team’s player development coach. His faith had turned his path into something unexpected but fulfilling. Today, Connor is the founder of CF Hoops, where he helps develop young athletes both in-person and online. When he’s not training players, Connor leads Bible studies and volunteers at FCA Wyoming’s Sports Camp, guiding others toward a purpose greater than themselves. “Sometimes God has to make you take a step back to see the bigger picture,” Connor says. Now, he's committed to helping others see that picture, too. 🌿 📰 https://lnkd.in/g-8eGnBA #FaithJourney #Basketball #Leadership #MinistryImpact #FCATeam #GodsPlan

God has a specific calling for you as a coach, one that goes beyond winning games. King Solomon, in Ecclesiastes, reminds us that earthly pursuits are fleeting. However, coaching offers a lasting purpose—discipleship. While coaching involves tactics and strategy, its true impact is in shaping lives spiritually. You’re in a unique position to guide athletes toward a deeper connection with God. Amid the pressures of performance, God is present, using sports as a way to reveal Himself. As a coach, ask God how you can disciple your players. Don’t get lost in the demands—remember your higher calling. Discipleship is risky but always worth it. Think of one of the best coaches you’ve had. What made him or her so different? What did you respect about the way they coached? #fca247 #ready #coach #influence 📰 https://bit.ly/3BQFPQC

Many leaders today are feeling exhausted, often pushing themselves to the limit in an attempt to keep up with life's demands. Over the past 18 months, I’ve learned this lesson firsthand, juggling more than 100 speaking events, a rebrand, a merger, and the challenges of leading a company. In an on-demand world, we often confuse busyness with progress, wearing ourselves down in the process. Like my truck, which is limited to 95 mph, our lives have limits. No matter how hard we press the gas, we can only go so fast for so long. When we redline our lives, relationships and our souls suffer. We were made for a slower, more intimate connection with God. The Bible reminds us to “lead a quiet life” (1 Thessalonians 4:11) and to find rest in Jesus, who promises, “Come to me, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). If you're feeling worn out, it might be time to slow down. Consider these practices to find rest: Sleep: Aim for 8 hours of good sleep each night. Read the Bible slowly: Turn quick reading into meaningful quiet time. Pray continuously: Cultivate an ongoing conversation with Jesus. Life’s pace will sometimes push your limits, but above all, guard your heart. No one else can lead your soul but you—and only Jesus can give it rest. Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us to lead well and acknowledge our need for Your refreshment. Renew us daily through prayer, Your Word, and the rest we need. In Jesus’ name, amen. —Randy Gravitt, CEO, LeadEveryDay.com 📰 https://lnkd.in/ggAZp2qd #ministryimpact #leadership #fca

More than two years after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Andrew Chernenkov’s life has found a “new normal.” In Rivne, where FCA Ukraine is based, daily life has mostly resumed despite power outages, air sirens and tragic news updates. Sports ministry efforts continue, though the country remains a war zone. Chernenkov, known to friends as “Che,” said the conflict has deepened his faith, teaching him to cherish each day. He and his wife, Olya, came to Christianity through FCA in 2008, and Che joined FCA Ukraine’s staff a year later. He now serves as the West Region Multi-Area Director. As tensions rose before the invasion, FCA Ukraine began preparing for humanitarian efforts. When the conflict started, the team was ready to serve those affected, using the FCA Sports Center to help displaced families and launching the Hope Wins program to aid soldiers in recovery. Despite challenges like power outages and air raid alarms, FCA resumed its ministry shortly after the war began. The organization hosted sports camps, provided essential resources and supported local and displaced families. Chernenkov noted the openness to the Gospel that he’s seen during these difficult times. He remains hopeful for peace and is dedicated to rebuilding FCA’s ministry across Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of living each day with faith. 📰 https://bit.ly/4eKv68V #fca #fcateam #fcaukraine #ministryimpact
