Our #FoodOfTheMonth for October is, appropriately, squash! 🎃 (Fun fact: Pumpkins are one type of squash!) We get our squash from Route 1 MN and The Good Acre. Last fiscal year, we distributed nearly 5,000 pounds of squash to our hundreds of agency partners. (Second fun fact: While it's considered a vegetable by most people, squash are technically a fruit!) When you become a Monthly Nourisher, you help share healthy foods with your community. A gift of $20 provides about 13 pounds of squash to people experiencing hunger! As the leaves change color and the air grows crisp, we gather together to celebrate the harvest season. Here's a recap of our annual Harvest Festival from earlier this month. It was a great time to experience the warmth of community, beauty of nature, and the abundance of the season. 🍁🌽 #HarvestSeason

Today is #WorldFoodDay, from the Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)! This year's theme is, "Right to foods for a better life and a better future," and we couldn't agree more. This sentiment is at the core of everything we do at The Food Group, from our anti-hunger and affordable grocery programs to supporting emerging farmers as they grow nourishing produce. You can get in on the action and support everyone's right to good food by joining us for a volunteer shift. We have opportunities available for gleaning and harvesting local produce, packing up food at our New Hope warehouse, and more: https://bit.ly/3x5j5KB
