We want to express our gratitude to our community, who have stepped up their giving in the wake of this crisis. Your support is helping food service workers in desperate need. 💙 🧡 Share Giving Kitchen's Impact in October. Our Stability Network is working tirelessly to connect food service workers in crisis to resources in their area that are serving critical basic needs first. We’re also connecting them to food, shelter, and benefits emergency resources. In October, we referred 2,333 food service workers to 3,339 resources. Those food service workers received an average of 1.8 referrals per request. The Financial Assistance team has been working overtime to provide direct assistance to those experiencing qualifying crises throughout the region and across the country. They awarded over $213,000 in aid last month, with more requests coming in every day. 👉 Fund the growing need: givingkitchen.org/give-now 👉 Ask for help: Givingkitchen.org/help 👉 Share GK's Hurricane Recovery Resources: https://lnkd.in/e4V5zqAV

“Restaurant workers have one of the highest rates of suicide among all classes of the workforce,” said Kevin Tanner, the commissioner of the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. In restaurant lingo, an item is 86’d when it’s out of stock or removed from the menu. The term is also now part of the successful #86TheStigma 988 marketing campaign in Georgia, a collaboration between the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, the Georgia Restaurant Association, and Giving Kitchen, a nonprofit providing emergency assistance for food service workers. The campaign’s on-the-ground approach caught the eye of local and national media, allowing it to reach close to 60 million people. Tanner shares how the campaign came to be and his plans to build on what they’ve learned. https://lnkd.in/gNyFgs88
